 <<  Amsal 12 >>

He who loves correction loves knowledge; he who hates reproof is stupid.

The good man wins the LORD's favour, the schemer his condemnation.

No one can be established by wickedness, but the roots of the righteous will not be disturbed.

A capable wife is her husband's crown; one who disgraces him is like a canker in his bones.

The purposes of the righteous are just; the schemes of the wicked are full of deceit.

The wicked by their words lay a murderous ambush, but the words of the upright save them.

Once the wicked are down, that is the end of them, but the line of the righteous continues.

Intelligence is commended, but a warped mind is despised.

It is better to be modest and earn one's living than to play the grandee on an empty stomach.

A right-minded person cares for his beast, but one who is wicked is cruel at heart.

Someone who cultivates his land has plenty to eat, but one who follows idle pursuits lacks sense.

The stronghold of the wicked crumbles like clay, but the righteous take lasting root.

The wicked are ensnared by their own offensive speech, but the righteous come safely through trouble.

People win success by their words; they get the reward their work merits.

A fool's conduct is right in his own eyes; to listen to advice shows wisdom.

A fool betrays his annoyance at once; a clever person who is slighted conceals his feelings.

An honest witness comes out with the truth, but the false one with deceit.

Gossip is sharp as a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Truthful speech stands firm for ever, but lies live only for a moment.

Those who plot evil delude themselves, but there is joy for those who seek the common good.

No mischief will befall the righteous, but the wicked get their fill of adversity.

The LORD detests a liar but delights in honesty.

A clever person conceals his knowledge, but a stupid one blurts out folly.

Diligence brings people to power, but laziness to forced labour.

An anxious heart is dispiriting; a kind word brings cheerfulness.

The righteous are freed from evil, but the wicked take a path that leads astray.

The lazy hunter puts up no game; those who are diligent reap a rich harvest.

The way of righteousness leads to life, but there is a well-worn path to death.
