HAPPY are they whose way of life is blameless, who conform to the law of the LORD.

Happy are they who obey his instruction, who set their heart on finding him;

who have done no wrong, but have lived according to his will.

You, Lord, have laid down your precepts that are to be kept faithfully.

If only I might hold a steady course, keeping your statutes!

Then, if I fixed my eyes on all your commandments, I should never be put to shame.

I shall praise you in sincerity of heart as I learn your just decrees.

I shall observe your statutes; do not leave me forsaken!

How may a young man lead a clean life? By holding to your words.

With all my heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments.

I treasure your promise in my heart, for fear that I might sin against you.

Blessed are you, LORD; teach me your statutes.

I say them over, one by one, all the decrees you have announced.

I have rejoiced in the path of your instruction as one rejoices over wealth of every kind.

I shall meditate on your precepts and keep your paths before my eyes.

In your statutes I find continual delight; I shall not forget your word.

Grant this to me, your servant: let me live so that I may keep your word.

Take the veil from my eyes, that I may see the wonders to be found in your law.

Though I am but a passing stranger here on earth, do not hide your commandments from me.

My heart pines continually with longing for your decrees.

The proud have felt your censure; cursed are those who turn from your commandments.

Set me free from scorn and insult, for I have obeyed your instruction.

Rulers sit scheming together against me; but I, your servant, shall study your statutes.

Your instruction is my continual delight; I turn to it for counsel.

I lie prone in the dust; revive me according to your word.

I tell you of my plight and you answer me; teach me your statutes.

Show me the way set out in your precepts, and I shall meditate on your wonders.

Because of misery I cannot rest; renew my strength in accordance with your promise.

Keep falsehood far from me and grant me the grace of living by your law.

I have chosen the path of faithfulness; I have set your decrees before me.

I hold fast to your instruction; LORD, do not let me be put to shame.

I shall run the course made known in your commandments, for you set free my heart.

Teach me, LORD, the way of your statutes, and in keeping them I shall find my reward.

Give me the insight to obey your law and to keep it wholeheartedly.

Make me walk in the path of your commandments, for that is my desire.

Dispose my heart towards your instruction, not towards love of gain;

turn my eyes away from all that is futile; grant me life by your word.

Fulfil your promise for your servant, the promise made to those who fear you.

Turn away the taunts which I dread, for your decrees are good.

How I long for your precepts! By your righteousness grant me life.

Let your love descend on me, LORD, your deliverance as you have promised;

then I shall have an answer to the taunts aimed at me, because I trust in your word.

Do not rob me of my power to speak the truth, for I put my hope in your decrees.

I shall heed your law continually, for ever and ever;

I walk in freedom wherever I will, because I have studied your precepts.

I shall speak of your instruction before kings and shall not be ashamed;

in your commandments I find continuing delight; I love them with all my heart.

I am devoted to your commandments; I love them, and meditate on your statutes.

Keep in mind the word spoken to me, your servant, on which you have taught me to fix my hope.

In my time of trouble my consolation is this: your promise has given me life.

Proud people treat me with insolent scorn, but I do not swerve from your commandments.

I have cherished your decrees from of old, and in them I find comfort, LORD.

Fury seizes me as I think of the wicked who forsake your law.

Your statutes are the theme of my song throughout my earthly life.

In the night I remember your name, LORD, and dwell upon your instruction.

This has been my lot, for I have kept your precepts.

You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to keep your words.

With all my heart I have tried to please you; fulfil your promise and be gracious to me.

I have considered my way of life and turned back to your instruction;

I have never delayed, but always made haste to keep your commandments.

The wicked in crowds close round me, but I do not forget your law.

At midnight I rise to give you thanks for the justice of your decrees.

I keep company with all who fear you, with all who follow your precepts.

LORD, the earth is filled with your unfailing love; teach me your statutes.

You have dealt kindly with your servant, fulfilling your word, LORD.

Give me insight, give me knowledge, for I put my trust in your commandments.

Before I was chastened I went astray, but now I pay heed to your promise.

You are good, and you do what is good; teach me your statutes.

I follow your precepts wholeheartedly, though those who are proud blacken my name with lies;

they are arrogant and unfeeling, but I find my delight in your instruction.

How good for me to have been chastened, so that I might be schooled in your statutes!

The law you have ordained means more to me than a fortune in gold and silver.

Your hands made me and formed me; give me insight that I may learn your commandments.

May all who fear you see me and be glad, because I put my hope in your word.

I know, LORD, that your decrees are just and even in chastening you keep faith with me.

Let your love comfort me, as you have promised me, your servant.

Extend your compassion to me, that I may live, for your law is my delight.

Put the proud to shame, for they wrong me with lies; but I shall meditate on your precepts.

Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may understand your instruction.

Let me give my whole heart to your statutes, so that I am not put to shame.

I long with all my heart for your deliverance; I have put my hope in your word.

My sight grows dim with looking for your promise and I cry, “When will you comfort me?”

Though I shrivel like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your statutes.

How long must I, your servant, wait? When will you execute judgement on my persecutors?

The proud who flout your law spread tales about me.

All your commandments stand sure; but the proud hound me with falsehood. Come to my help!

They had almost swept me from the earth, but I did not forsake your precepts.

In your love grant me life, that I may follow your instruction.

Your word is everlasting, LORD; it is firmly fixed in heaven.

Your faithfulness endures for all generations, and the earth which you have established stands firm.

Even to this day your decrees stand fast, for all things serve you.

Had your law not been my delight, I should have perished in my distress;

never shall I forget your precepts, for through them you have given me life.

I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts.

The wicked lie in wait to destroy me; but I shall ponder your instruction.

I see that all things have an end, but your commandment has no limit.

How I love your law! It is my study all day long.

Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is my possession for ever.

I have more insight than all my teachers, for your instruction is my study;

I have more wisdom than those who are old, because I have kept your precepts.

I do not set foot on any evil path in my obedience to your word;

I do not swerve from your decrees, for you have been my teacher.

How sweet is your promise to my palate, sweeter on my tongue than honey!

From your precepts I learn wisdom; therefore I hate every path of falsehood.

Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path;

I have bound myself by oath and solemn vow to keep your just decrees.

I am cruelly afflicted; LORD, revive me as you have promised.

Accept, LORD, the willing tribute of my lips, and teach me your decrees.

Every day I take my life in my hands, yet I never forget your law.

The wicked have set a trap for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.

Your instruction is my everlasting heritage; it is the joy of my heart.

I am resolved to fulfil your statutes; they are a reward that never fails.

I hate those who are not single-minded, but I love your law.

You are my hiding-place and my shield; in your word I put my hope.

Leave me alone, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.

Support me as you have promised, that I may live; do not disappoint my hope.

Sustain me, that I may see deliverance; then I shall always be occupied with your statutes.

You reject all who stray from your statutes, for their whole talk is malice and lies.

In your sight the wicked are all scum of the earth; therefore I love your instruction.

The dread of you makes my flesh creep; I stand in awe of your decrees.

I have done what is just and right; you will not abandon me to my oppressors.

Stand surety for the welfare of your servant; do not let the proud oppress me.

My eyes grow weary looking for your deliverance, with waiting for the victory you have promised.

In your dealings with me, LORD, show your love and teach me your statutes.

I am your servant; give me insight to understand your instruction.

It is time for you to act, LORD, for your law has been broken.

Truly I love your commandments more than gold, even the finest gold.

It is by your precepts that I find the right way; I hate the paths of falsehood.

Your instruction is wonderful; therefore I gladly keep it.

Your word is revealed, and all is light; it gives understanding even to the untaught.

I pant, I thirst, longing for your commandments.

Turn to me and show me favour, just as you have decreed for those who love your name.

Make my step firm according to your promise, and let no wrong have the mastery over me.

Deliver me from oppression by my fellows, that I may observe your precepts.

Let your face shine on your servant and teach me your statutes.

My eyes stream with tears because your law goes unheeded.

How just you are, LORD! How straight and true are your decrees!

How just is the instruction you give! It is firm and sure.

I am speechless with indignation at my enemies' neglect of your words.

Your promise has been well tested, and I love it, LORD.

I may be despised and of little account, but I do not forget your precepts.

Your justice is an everlasting justice, and your law is steadfast.

Though I am overtaken by trouble and anxiety, your commandments are my delight.

Your instruction is ever just; give me understanding that I may live.

With my whole heart I call; answer me, LORD. I shall keep your statutes.

I call to you; save me that I may heed your instruction.

Before dawn I rise to cry for help; I put my hope in your word.

Before the midnight watch my eyes are open for meditation on your promise.

In your love hear me, and give me life, LORD, by your decree.

My pursuers in their malice are close behind me, but they are far from your law.

Yet you are near, LORD, and all your commandments are steadfast.

I have long known from your instruction that you have given it everlasting foundations.

See in what trouble I am and set me free, for I do not forget your law.

Be my advocate and gain my acquittal; as you promised, give me life.

Such deliverance is beyond the reach of the wicked, because they do not ponder your statutes.

Great is your compassion, LORD; by your decree grant me life.

Though my persecutors and my foes are many, I have not swerved from your instruction.

I was cut to the quick when I saw traitors who had no regard for your word.

See how I love your precepts! In your love, LORD, grant me life.

Your word is founded in steadfastness, and all your just decrees are everlasting.

Rulers persecute me without cause, but it is your word that fills me with awe.

I am jubilant over your promise, like someone who finds much booty.

Falsehood I abhor and detest, but I love your law.

Seven times each day I praise you for the justice of your decrees.

Peace is the reward of those who love your law; no pitfalls beset their path.

I hope for your deliverance, LORD, and I fulfil your commandments;

gladly I heed your instruction and love it dearly.

I heed your precepts and your instruction, for all my life lies open before you.

Let my cry of joy reach you, LORD; give me insight as you have promised.

Let my prayers for favour reach you; be true to your promise and save me.

Let your praise pour from my lips, for you teach me your statutes;

let the music of your promises be on my tongue, for your commandments are justice itself.

May your hand be prompt to help me, for I have chosen your precepts;

I long for your deliverance, LORD, and your law is my delight.

Let me live to praise you; let your decrees be my help.

I have strayed like a lost sheep; come, search for your servant, for I have not forgotten your commandments.
