2how he swore an oath to the LORD and made this vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3“I will not live in my house nor will I go to my bed,
4I will give myself no rest, nor allow myself sleep,
5until I find a sanctuary for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6We heard of the Ark in Ephrathah; we found it in the region of Jaar.
7Let us enter his dwelling; let us bow down at his footstool.
8Arise, LORD, and come to your resting-place, you and your powerful Ark.
9Let your priests be clothed in righteousness and let your loyal servants shout for joy.
10For your servant David's sake do not reject your anointed one.
11The LORD swore this oath to David, an oath which he will not break: “A prince of your own line I will set on your throne.
12If your sons keep my covenant and heed the teaching that I give them, their sons in turn for all time will occupy your throne.”
13For the LORD has chosen Zion, desired her for his home:
14“This is my resting-place for ever; here I shall make my home, for that is what I want.
15I shall bless her with food in plenty and satisfy her needy with bread.
16I shall clothe her priests with victory; her loyal servants will shout for joy.
17There I shall make a king of David's line appear and prepare a lamp for my anointed one;
18I shall cover his enemies with shame, but on him there will be a shining crown.”
