2Grace<5485> to you and peace<1515> from God<2316> the Father<3962> and the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>.
3We ought<3784> always<3842> to give<2168> thanks<2168> to God<2316> for you, brethren<80>, as is only fitting<514>, because<3754> your faith<4102> is greatly<5232> enlarged<5232>, and the love<26> of each<1538> one<1520> of you toward<1519> one<240> another<240> grows<4121> ever greater<4121>;
4therefore<5620>, we ourselves<846> speak<1461> proudly<1461> of you among<1722> the churches<1577> of God<2316> for your perseverance<5281> and faith<4102> in the midst of all<3956> your persecutions<1375> and afflictions<2347> which<3739> you endure<430>.
5This is a plain<1730> indication<1730> of God's<2316> righteous<1342> judgment<2920> so<1519> that you will be considered<2661> worthy<2661> of the kingdom<932> of God<2316>, for which<3739> indeed<2532> you are suffering<3958>.
6For after<1512> all<1512> it is only just<1342> for God<2316> to repay<467> with affliction<2347> those<3588> who afflict<2346> you,
7and to give relief<425> to you who are afflicted<2346> and to us as well when<1722> the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> will be revealed<602> from heaven<3772> with His mighty<1411> angels<32> in flaming<5395> fire<4442>,
8dealing<1325> out retribution<1557> to those<3588> who do not know<3609> God<2316> and to those<3588> who do not obey<5219> the gospel<2098> of our Lord<2962> Jesus<2424>.
9These<3748> will pay<5099> the penalty<1349> of eternal<166> destruction<3639>, away<575> from the presence<4383> of the Lord<2962> and from the glory<1391> of His power<2479>,
10when<3752> He comes<2064> to be glorified<1740> in His saints<40> on that day<2250>, and to be marveled<2296> at among<1722> all<3956> who have believed<4100>--for our testimony<3142> to you was believed<4100>.
11To this<3739> end<1519> also<2532> we pray<4336> for you always<3842>, that our God<2316> will count<515> you worthy<515> of your calling<2821>, and fulfill<4137> every<3956> desire<2107> for goodness<19> and the work<2041> of faith<4102> with power<1411>,
12so<3704> that the name<3686> of our Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> will be glorified<1740> in you, and you in Him, according<2596> to the grace<5485> of our God<2316> and the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>.
