1Finally<3062>, brethren<80>, pray<4336> for us that the word<3056> of the Lord<2962> will spread<5143> rapidly<5143> and be glorified<1392>, just<2531> as it did also<2532> with you;
2and that we will be rescued<4506> from perverse<824> and evil<4190> men<444>; for not all<3956> have faith<4102>.
3But the Lord<2962> is faithful<4103>, and He will strengthen<4741> and protect<5442> you from the evil<4190> one.
4We have<3982> confidence<3982> in the Lord<2962> concerning<1909> you, that you are doing<4160> and will continue to do<4160> what<3739> we command<3853>.
5May the Lord<2962> direct<2720> your hearts<2588> into the love<26> of God<2316> and into the steadfastness<5281> of Christ<5547>.
6Now<1161> we command<3853> you, brethren<80>, in the name<3686> of our Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>, that you keep<4724> away<4724> from every<3956> brother<80> who leads<4043> an unruly<814> life<4043> and not according<2596> to the tradition<3862> which<3739> you received<3880> from us.
7For you yourselves<846> know<3609> how<4459> you ought<1163> to follow<3401> our example<3401>, because<3754> we did not act<812> in an undisciplined<812> manner<812> among<1722> you,
8nor<3761> did we eat<2068> anyone's<3844><5100> bread<740> without<1431> paying<1431> for it, but with labor<2873> and hardship<3449> we kept working<2038> night<3571> and day<2250> so<4314> that we would not be a burden<1912> to any<5100> of you;
9not because<3754> we do not have<2192> the right<1849> to this, but in order<2443> to offer<1325> ourselves<1438> as a model<5179> for you, so<1519> that you would follow<3401> our example<3401>.
10For even<2532> when<3753> we were with you, we used to give<3853> you this<3778> order<3853>: if<1487> anyone<5100> is not willing<2309> to work<2038>, then<3754> he is not to eat<2068>, either<3366>.
11For we hear<191> that some<5100> among<1722> you are leading<4043> an undisciplined<814> life<4043>, doing<2038> no<3367> work<2038> at all<3367>, but acting<4020> like<4020> busybodies<4020>.
12Now<1161> such<5108> persons<5108> we command<3853> and exhort<3870> in the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547> to work<2038> in quiet<2271> fashion<2271> and eat<2068> their own<1438> bread<740>.
13But as for you, brethren<80>, do not grow<1457> weary<1457> of doing<2569> good<2569>.
14If<1487> anyone<5100> does not obey<5219> our instruction<3056> in this<3588> letter<1992>, take<4593> special<4593> note<4593> of that person<3778> and do not associate<4874> with him, so<2443> that he will be put<1788> to shame<1788>.
15Yet do not regard<2233> him as an enemy<2190>, but admonish<3560> him as a brother<80>.
16Now<1161> may the Lord<2962> of peace<1515> Himself<846> continually<1223><3956> grant<1325> you peace<1515> in every<3956> circumstance<5158>. The Lord<2962> be with you all<3956>!
17I, Paul<3972>, write this<3588> greeting<783> with my own<1699> hand<5495>, and this<3739> is a distinguishing<4592> mark<4592> in every<3956> letter<1992>; this<3779> is the way<3779> I write<1125>.
