2And now<6258> they sin<2398> more<3254> and more<3254>, And make<6213> for themselves molten<4541> images<4541>, Idols<6091> skillfully<8394> made from their silver<3701>, All<3605> of them the work<4639> of craftsmen<2796>. They say<559> of them, "Let the men<120> who sacrifice<2076> kiss<5401> the calves<5695>!"
3Therefore<3651> they will be like the morning<1242> cloud<6051> And like dew<2919> which soon<7925> disappears<1980>, Like chaff<4671> which is blown<5590> away<5590> from the threshing<1637> floor<1637> And like smoke<6227> from a chimney<699>.
4Yet I have been the LORD<3068> your God<430> Since<4480> the land<776> of Egypt<4714>; And you were not to know<3045> any god<430> except<2108> Me, For there<369> is no<369> savior<3467> besides<1115> Me.
5I cared<3045> for you in the wilderness<4057>, In the land<776> of drought<8514>.
6As they had their pasture<4830>, they became<7646> satisfied<7646>, And being<7646> satisfied<7646>, their heart<3820> became<7311> proud<7311>; Therefore<5921><3651> they forgot<7911> Me.
7So I will be like<3644> a lion<7826> to them; Like a leopard<5246> I will lie<7789> in wait<7789> by the wayside<1870>.
8I will encounter<6298> them like a bear<1677> robbed<7909> of her cubs<7909>, And I will tear<7167> open their chests<5458><3820>; There<8033> I will also devour<398> them like a lioness<3833>, As a wild<7704> beast<2421> would tear<1234> them.
9It is your destruction<7843>, O Israel<3478>, That you are against Me, against your help<5828>.
10Where<165> now<645> is your king<4428> That he may save<3467> you in all<3605> your cities<5892>, And your judges<8199> of whom<834> you requested<559>, "Give<5414> me a king<4428> and princes<8269>"?
11I gave<5414> you a king<4428> in My anger<639> And took<3947> him away in My wrath<5678>.
12The iniquity<5771> of Ephraim<669> is bound<6887> up; His sin<2403> is stored<6845> up.
13The pains<2256> of childbirth<3205> come<935> upon him; He is not a wise<2450> son<1121>, For it is not the time<6256> that he should delay<5975> at the opening<4866><1121> of the womb<4866>.
14Shall I ransom<6299> them from the power<3027> of Sheol<7585>? Shall I redeem<1350> them from death<4194>? O Death<4194>, where<165> are your thorns<1698>? O Sheol<7585>, where<165> is your sting<6986>? Compassion<5164> will be hidden<5641> from My sight<5869>.
15Though<3558> he flourishes<6509> among<996> the reeds<260>, An east<6921> wind<6921> will come<935>, The wind<7307> of the LORD<3068> coming<5927> up from the wilderness<4057>; And his fountain<4726> will become<954> dry<954> And his spring<4599> will be dried<2717> up; It will plunder<8154> his treasury<214> of every<3605> precious<2532> article<3627>.
16Samaria<8111> will be held<816> guilty<816>, For she has rebelled<4784> against her God<430>. They will fall<5307> by the sword<2719>, Their little<5768> ones<5768> will be dashed<7376> in pieces<7376>, And their pregnant<2034> women<2030> will be ripped<1234> open<1234>.
