1Then he brought<7725> me back<7725> to the door<6607> of the house<1004>; and behold<2009>, water<4325> was flowing<3318> from under<8478> the threshold<4670> of the house<1004> toward the east<6921>, for the house<1004> faced<6440> east<6921>. And the water<4325> was flowing<3381> down<3381> from under<8478>, from the right<3233> side<3802> of the house<1004>, from south<5045> of the altar<4196>.
2He brought<3318> me out by way<1870> of the north<6828> gate<8179> and led<5437> me around<5437> on the outside<2351> to the outer<2351> gate<8179> by way<1870> of the gate that faces<6437> east<6921>. And behold<2009>, water<4325> was trickling<6379> from the south<3233> side<3802>.
3When the man<376> went<3318> out toward the east<6921> with a line<6957> in his hand<3027>, he measured<4058> a thousand<505> cubits<520>, and he led<5674> me through<5674> the water<4325>, water<4325> reaching the ankles<658>.

7Now when I had returned<7725>, behold<2009>, on the bank<8193> of the river<5158> there were very<3966> many<7227> trees<6086> on the one<2088> side<2088> and on the other<2088>.
8Then he said<559> to me, "These<428> waters<4325> go<3318> out toward<413> the eastern<6930> region<1552> and go<3381> down<3381> into the Arabah<6160>; then they go<935> toward the sea<3220>, being made to flow<3318> into the sea<3220>, and the waters<4325> of the sea become<7495> fresh<7495>.
9"It will come<1961> about that every<3605> living<5315> creature<5315> which<834> swarms<8317> in every<3605> place where<834><8033> the river<5158> goes<935>, will live<2421>. And there will be very<3966> many<7227> fish<1710>, for these<428> waters<4325> go<935> there<8033> and the others become<7495> fresh<7495>; so everything<3605> will live<2421> where<834><8033> the river<5158> goes<935>.
10"And it will come<1961> about that fishermen<1728> will stand<5975> beside<5921> it; from Engedi<5872> to Eneglaim<5882> there will be a place<4894> for the spreading<4894> of nets<2764>. Their fish<1710> will be according to their kinds<4327>, like the fish<1710> of the Great<1419> Sea<3220>, very<3966> many<7227>.
11"But its swamps<1207> and marshes<1207> will not become<7495> fresh<7495>; they will be left<5414> for salt<4417>.
12"By the river<5158> on its bank<8193>, on one<2088> side<2088> and on the other<2088>, will grow<5927> all<3605> kinds of trees<6086> for food<3978>. Their leaves<5929> will not wither<5034> and their fruit<6529> will not fail<8552>. They will bear<1069> every month<2320> because<3588> their water<4325> flows<3318> from the sanctuary<4720>, and their fruit<6529> will be for food<3978> and their leaves<5929> for healing<8644>."
13Thus<3541> says<559> the Lord<136> GOD<3068>, "This<2088> shall be the boundary<1366> by which<834> you shall divide<5157> the land<776> for an inheritance<5157> among the twelve<8147><6240> tribes<7626> of Israel<3478>; Joseph<3130> shall have two<8147> portions<2256>.
14"You shall divide<5157> it for an inheritance<5157>, each<376> one<376> equally with the other<251>; for I swore<5375><3027> to give<5414> it to your forefathers<1>, and this<2088> land<776> shall fall<5307> to you as an inheritance<5159>.
15"This<2088> shall be the boundary<1366> of the land<776>: on the north<6828> side<6285>, from the Great<1419> Sea<3220> by the way<1870> of Hethlon<2855>, to the entrance<935> of Zedad<6657>;
16Hamath<2574>, Berothah<1268>, Sibraim<5453>, which<834> is between<996> the border<1366> of Damascus<1834> and the border<1366> of Hamath<2574>; Hazer-hatticon<2694>, which<834> is by the border<1366> of Hauran<2362>.
17"The boundary<1366> shall extend<1961> from the sea<3220> to Hazar-enan<2703> at the border<1366> of Damascus<1834>, and on the north<6828> toward the north<6828> is the border<1366> of Hamath<2574>. This is the north<6828> side<6285>.
18"The east<6921> side<6285>, from between<996> Hauran<2362>, Damascus<1834>, Gilead<1568> and the land<776> of Israel<3478>, shall be the Jordan<3383>; from the north border<1366> to the eastern<6931> sea<3220> you shall measure<4058>. This is the east<6921> side<6285>.
19"The south<5045> side<6285> toward the south<8486> shall extend from Tamar<8559> as far<5704> as the waters<4325> of Meribath-kadesh<4809><6946>, to the brook<5158> of Egypt and to the Great<1419> Sea<3220>. This is the south<8486> side<6285> toward the south<5045>.
20"The west<3220> side<6285> shall be the Great<1419> Sea<3220>, from the south border<1366> to a point opposite<5227> Lebo-hamath<935>. This<2088> is the west<3220> side<6285>.
21"So you shall divide<2505> this<2088> land<776> among yourselves according to the tribes<7626> of Israel<3478>.
22"You shall divide<5307> it by lot<5307> for an inheritance<5159> among yourselves and among the aliens<1616> who stay<1481> in your midst<8432>, who<834> bring<3205> forth<3205> sons<1121> in your midst<8432>. And they shall be to you as the native-born<249> among the sons<1121> of Israel<3478>; they shall be allotted<5307> an inheritance<5159> with you among<8432> the tribes<7626> of Israel<3478>.
23"And in the tribe<7626> with which<834> the alien<1616> stays<1481>, there<8033> you shall give<5414> him his inheritance<5159>," declares<5002> the Lord<136> GOD<3068>.
