1These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
3The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah; the mother of these three was a Canaanite woman, Bathshua. Er, Judah's eldest son, displeased the LORD and the LORD slew him.
4Then Tamar, Judah's daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah, making in all five sons of Judah.
5The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
6The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Darda, five in all.
7The son of Zimri: Carmi. The son of Carmi: Achar, who brought trouble on Israel by his violation of the sacred ban.
8The son of Ethan: Azariah.
9The sons of Hezron: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.
10Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab father of Nahshon, prince of Judah.
11Nahshon was the father of Salma, Salma father of Boaz,
12Boaz father of Obed, Obed father of Jesse.
13The eldest son of Jesse was Eliab, the second Abinadab, the third Shimea,
14the fourth Nethanel, the fifth Raddai,
15the sixth Ozem, the seventh David;
16their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. The sons of Zeruiah: Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three in all.
17Abigail was the mother of Amasa; his father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
18Caleb son of Hezron had Jerioth by Azubah his wife; these were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur.
20Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri father of Bezalel.
21Later, Hezron, then sixty years of age, married and had intercourse with the daughter of Machir, father of Gilead, and she bore Segub.
22Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three towns in Gilead.
23Geshur and Aram took from them Havvoth-jair, and Kenath and its dependent villages, a total of sixty places. All these were descendants of Machir father of Gilead.
24After the death of Hezron, Caleb had intercourse with Ephrathah and she bore him Ashhur the founder of Tekoa.
25The sons of Jerahmeel, eldest son of Hezron by Ahijah, were Ram the eldest, Bunah, Oren, and Ozem.
26Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
27The sons of Ram, eldest son of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28The sons of Onam: Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai: Nadab and Abishur.
29The name of Abishur's wife was Abihail; she bore him Ahban and Molid.
30The sons of Nadab: Seled and Ephraim; Seled died without children.
31Ephraim's son was Ishi, Ishi's son Sheshan, Sheshan's son Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan; Jether died without children.
33The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
34Sheshan had daughters but no sons. He had an Egyptian servant named Jarha;
35he gave his daughter in marriage to this Jarha, and she bore him Attai.
36Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan father of Zabad,
37Zabad father of Ephlal, Ephlal father of Obed,
38Obed father of Jehu, Jehu father of Azariah,
39Azariah father of Helez, Helez father of Elasah,
40Elasah father of Sisamai, Sisamai father of Shallum,
41Shallum father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah father of Elishama.
42The sons of Caleb brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha the eldest, founder of Ziph, and Mareshah, founder of Hebron.
43The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44Shema was the father of Raham father of Jorkoam, and Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the founder of Beth-zur.
46Ephah, Caleb's concubine, was the mother of Haran, Moza, and Gazez; Haran was the father of Gazez.
47The sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48Maacah, Caleb's concubine, was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah;
49she bore also Shaaph, founder of Madmannah, and Sheva, founder of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb also had a daughter named Achsah.
50The descendants of Caleb: the sons of Hur, the eldest son of Ephrathah: Shobal the founder of Kiriath-jearim,
51Salma the founder of Bethlehem, and Hareph the founder of Beth-gader.
52Shobal the founder of Kiriath-jearim was the father of Reaiah and the ancestor of half the Manahethites.
53The clans of Kiriath-jearim: Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites, from whom were descended the Zorathites and the Eshtaulites.
54The descendants of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Ataroth, Beth-joab, half the Manahethites, and the Zorites.
55The clans of Sophrites living at Jabez: Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These were Kenites who were connected by marriage with the ancestor of the Rechabites.
