1For David (when he feigned madness in Abimelech's presence; Abimelech then drove him away, and he departed) I SHALL bless the LORD at all times; his praise will be ever on my lips.
2In the LORD I shall glory; the humble will hear and be glad.
3Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.
4I sought the LORD's help; he answered me and set me free from all my fears.
5They who look to him are radiant with joy; they will never be put out of countenance.
6Here is one who cried out in his affliction; the LORD heard him and saved him from all his troubles.
7The angel of the LORD is on guard round those who fear him, and he rescues them.
8Taste and see that the LORD is good. Happy are they who find refuge in him!
9Fear the LORD, you his holy people; those who fear him lack for nothing.
10Princes may suffer want and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11Come, children, listen to me; I shall teach you the fear of the LORD.
12Which of you delights in life and desires a long life to enjoy prosperity?
13Then keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies;
14shun evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous; his ears are open to their cry.
16The LORD sets his face against wrongdoers to cut off all memory of them from the earth.
17When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and sets them free from all their troubles.
18The LORD is close to those whose courage is broken; he saves those whose spirit is crushed.
19Though the misfortunes of one who is righteous be many, the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20He guards every bone of his body, and not one of them will be broken.
21Misfortune will bring death to the wicked, and punishment befalls those who hate the righteous.
22The LORD delivers the lives of his servants, and no punishment befalls those who seek refuge in him.
