1For the leader: set to “Mahalath”: a maskil: for David THE impious fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” Everyone is depraved, every deed is vile; no one does good!
2God looks out from heaven on all the human race to see if any act wisely, if any seek God.
3But all are unfaithful, altogether corrupt; no one does good, no, not even one.
4Have they no understanding, those evildoers who devour my people as if eating bread, and never call to God?
5They will be in dire alarm when God scatters the bones of the godless, confounded when God rejects them.
6If only deliverance for Israel might come from Zion! When God restores his people's fortunes, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
