2Give thanks to the LORD on the lyre; make music to him on the ten-stringed harp.
3Sing to him a new song; strike up with all your skill and shout in triumph,
4for the word of the LORD holds true, and all his work endures.
5He is a lover of righteousness and justice; the earth is filled with the LORD's unfailing love.
6The word of the LORD created the heavens; all the host of heaven was formed at his command.
7He gathered into a heap the waters of the sea, he laid up the deeps in his store-chambers.
8Let the whole world fear the LORD and all earth's inhabitants stand in awe of him.
9For he spoke, and it was; he commanded, and there it stood.
10The LORD frustrates the purposes of nations; he foils the plans of the peoples.
11But the LORD's own purpose stands for ever, and the plans he has in mind endure for all generations.
12Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen for his own.
13The LORD looks out from heaven; he sees the whole race of mortals,
14he surveys from his dwelling-place all the inhabitants of the earth.
15It is he who fashions the hearts of them all, who discerns everything they do.
16No king is saved by a great army, no warrior delivered by great strength.
17No one can rely on his horse to save him, nor for all its power can it be a means of escape.
18The LORD's eyes are turned towards those who fear him, towards those who hope for his unfailing love
19to deliver them from death, and in famine to preserve them alive.
20We have waited eagerly for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
21In him our hearts are glad, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22LORD, let your unfailing love rest on us, as we have put our hope in you.
