TB: tetapi supaya mezbah itu menjadi saksi antara kami dan kamu, dan antara keturunan kita kemudian, bahwa kami tetap beribadah kepada TUHAN di hadapan-Nya dengan korban bakaran, korban sembelihan dan korban keselamatan kami. Jadi tidaklah mungkin anak-anak kamu di kemudian hari berkata kepada anak-anak kami: Kamu tidak mempunyai bagian pada TUHAN.


AYT: tetapi supaya menjadi saksi di antara kami, kamu, dan keturunan kita selanjutnya bahwa kami tetap melayani TUHAN, dengan korban bakaran, korban sembelihan, dan korban pendamaian. Janganlah anak-anakmu berkata kepada anak-anak kami di kemudian hari, ‘Kamu tidak memiliki bagian dalam TUHAN.’

VMD: Adapun sebab yang sesungguhnya kami menginginkan mezbah itu ialah untuk menunjukkan kepada umat kami bahwa kami menyembah Allah yang sama seperti yang kamu lakukan. Mezbah itu akan menjadi bukti bagimu dan kami dan bagi semua keturunan kami bahwa kami menyembah TUHAN dan membawa persembahan, kurban sajian, dan kurban persekutuan kepada TUHAN. Kami mau agar anak-anakmu menjadi besar dan tahu bahwa kami juga orang Israel seperti kamu.

NETBible: but as a reminder to us and you, and to our descendants who follow us, that we will honor the Lord in his very presence with burnt offerings, sacrifices, and tokens of peace. Then in the future your descendants will not be able to say to our descendants, ‘You have no right to worship the Lord.’

NASB: rather it shall be a witness between us and you and between our generations after us, that we are to perform the service of the LORD before Him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings, so that your sons will not say to our sons in time to come, "You have no portion in the LORD."’

ERV: The real reason we wanted our altar was to show our people that we worship the same God that you do. This altar will be the proof to you and us and to all our future children that we worship the LORD. We give our sacrifices, grain offerings, and fellowship offerings to the LORD. We wanted your children to grow up and know that we are also Israelites like yourselves.

BBE: But to be a witness between us and you, and between the future generations, that we have the right of worshipping the Lord with our burned offerings and our offerings of beasts and our peace-offerings; so that your children will not be able to say to our children in time to come, You have no part in the Lord.
