Those who devise <02803> sinful plans <0205> are as good as dead, those who dream about doing <06466> evil <07451> as they lie in <05921> bed <04904>. As soon as morning <01242> dawns <0216> they carry out <06213> their plans, because <03588> they have the power <03027> <0410> to do so.
They confiscate <02530> the fields <07704> they desire, and seize <01497> the houses <01004> they want <05375>. They defraud <06231> people <01397> of their homes <01004>, and deprive people <0376> of the land they have inherited <05159>.
Therefore <03651> the Lord <03068> says <0559> this <03541>: “Look <02005>, I am devising <02803> disaster <07451> for <05921> this <02063> nation <04940>! It will be like a yoke from which <0834> you cannot <03808> free <04185> your neck <06677>. You will no <03808> longer walk <01980> proudly <07317>, for <03588> it will be a time <06256> of catastrophe <07451>.
In that day <03117> people <01931> will sing <05375> this taunt song <04912> to <05921> you– they will mock <05091> you with this lament <05092>: ‘We are <01961> completely destroyed <07703> <07703>; they sell off <04171> the property <02506> of my people <05971>. How <0349> they remove <04185> it from me! They assign <02505> our fields <07704> to the conqueror <07728>.’
Therefore <03651> no <03808> one will assign <07993> you land <02256> in the Lord’s <03068> community <06951>.
‘Don’t <0408> preach <05197> with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say <05197> excitedly. ‘These <0428> prophets should not <03808> preach <05197> of such things; we will not <03808> be overtaken <05253> by humiliation <03639>.’
Does the family <01004> of Jacob <03290> say <0559>, ‘The Lord’s <03068> patience <07307> can’t be exhausted <07114>– he would never <0518> do such <0428> things <04611>’? To be sure, my commands <01697> bring <03190> a reward <03190> for <05973> those who obey <01980> <03477> them,
but you rise up <06965> as an enemy <0341> against <04136> my people <05971>. You steal <06584> a robe <0145> <08008> from a friend, from those who pass by <05674> peacefully <0983> as if returning <07725> from a war <04421>.
You wrongly evict <01644> widows <0802> among my people <05971> from their cherished <08588> homes <01004>. You defraud <03947> their children <05768> of their prized inheritance <05769> <01926>.
But you are the ones who will be forced to leave <01980> <06965>! For <03588> this <02063> land is not <03808> secure <04496>! Sin <02930> will thoroughly <04834> destroy <02254> it!
If <03863> a lying <08267> windbag <07307> should come <01980> and say <03576>, ‘I’ll promise <05197> you blessings of wine <03196> and beer <07941>,’ he would be <01961> just the right preacher <05197> for these <02088> people <05971>!
I will certainly gather <0622> <0622> all <03605> of you, O Jacob <03290>, I will certainly assemble <06908> <06908> those Israelites <03478> who remain <07611>. I will bring <07760> them together <03162> like sheep <06629> in a fold <01223>, like a flock <05739> in the middle <08432> of a pasture <01699>; they will be so numerous <0120> that they will make a lot of noise <01949>.
The one who can break through barriers <06555> will lead <05927> them out <06440> they will break out <06555>, pass through <05674> the gate <08179>, and leave <03318>. Their king <04428> will advance <05674> before <06440> them, The Lord <03068> himself will lead <07218> them.
