The prayer <08605> of an oppressed <06041> man, as he grows faint <05848> and pours out <08210> his lament <07879> before <06440> the Lord <03068>. O Lord <03068>, hear <08085> my prayer <08605>! Pay attention to my cry <07775> for help <0935> <0413>!
Do not <0408> ignore <05641> me in <04480> my time <03117> of trouble <06862>! Listen <0241> <05186> to <0413> me! When <03117> I call out <07121> to you, quickly <04118> answer <06030> me!
For <03588> my days <03117> go up <03615> in smoke <06227>, and my bones <06106> are charred <02787> like a fireplace <04168>.
My heart <03820> is parched <05221> and withered <03001> like grass <06212>, for <03588> I am unable <07911> to eat <0398> food <03899>.
Because of the anxiety <06963> that makes <01692> me groan <0585>, my bones <06106> protrude from my skin <01320>.
I am like <01819> an owl <06893> in the wilderness <04057>; I am <01961> like a screech owl <03563> among the ruins <02723>.
I stay awake <08245>; I am like <01961> a solitary <0909> bird <06833> on <05921> a roof <01406>.
All <03605> day <03117> long my enemies <0341> taunt <02778> me; those who mock <01984> me use <07650> my name in their curses <07650>.
For <03588> I eat <0398> ashes <0665> as if they were bread <03899>, and mix <04537> my drink <08249> with my tears <01065>,
because <06440> of your anger <02195> and raging fury <07110>. Indeed <03588>, you pick <05375> me up <05375> and throw <07993> me away <07993>.
My days <03117> are coming to an end <05186> <06738>, and I <0589> am withered <03001> like grass <06212>.
But you <0859>, O Lord <03068>, rule <03427> forever <05769>, and your reputation <02143> endures <01755> <01755>.
You <0859> will rise up <06965> and have compassion <07355> on Zion <06726>. For <03588> it is time <06256> to have mercy <02603> on her, for <03588> the appointed time <04150> has come <0935>.
Indeed <03588>, your servants <05650> take delight <07521> in her stones <068>, and feel compassion <02603> for the dust <06083> of her ruins.
The nations <01471> will respect <03372> the reputation <08034> of the Lord <03068>, and all <03605> the kings <04428> of the earth <0776> will respect his splendor <03519>,
when <03588> the Lord <03068> rebuilds <01129> Zion <06726>, and reveals <07200> his splendor <03519>,
when he responds <06437> to <0413> the prayer <08605> of the destitute <06199>, and does not <03808> reject their <0959> request <08605>.
The account of his intervention <02063> will be recorded <03789> for future <0314> generations <01755>; people <05971> yet to be born <01254> will praise <01984> the Lord <03050>.
For <03588> he will look down <08259> from his sanctuary <06944> above <04791>; from heaven <08064> the Lord <03068> will look <05027> toward <0413> earth <0776>,
in order to hear <08085> the painful cries <0603> of the prisoners <0615>, and to set free <06605> those condemned <01121> to die <08546>,
so they may proclaim <05608> the name <08034> of the Lord <03068> in Zion <06726>, and praise <08416> him in Jerusalem <03389>,
when the nations <05971> gather <06908> together <03162>, and the kingdoms <04467> pay tribute <05647> to the Lord <03068>.
He has taken away <06031> my strength <03581> in the middle of life; he has cut short <07114> my days <03117>.
I say <0559>, “O my God <0410>, please do not <0408> take me away in the middle <02677> of my life <03117>! You endure through all <01755> generations <08141> <01755>.
In earlier times <06440> you established <03245> the earth <0776>; the skies <08064> are your handiwork <03027> <04639>.
They <01992> will perish <06>, but you <0859> will endure <05975>. They will wear out <01086> like a garment <0899>; like clothes <03830> you will remove <02498> them and they will disappear <02498>.
But you <0859> remain; your years <08141> do not <03808> come to an end.
The children <01121> of your servants <05650> will settle down <07931> here, and their descendants <02233> will live securely <03559> in your presence <06440>.”
