“And you <0859>, sing <05375> a lament <07015> for <0413> the princes <05387> of Israel <03478>,
and say <0559>: “‘What <04100> a lioness <03833> was your mother <0517> among <0996> the lions <0738>! She lay <07257> among <08432> young lions <03715>; she reared <07235> her cubs <01482>.
She reared <05927> one <0259> of her cubs <01482>; he became <01961> a young lion <03715>. He learned <03925> to tear <02963> prey <02964>; he devoured <0398> people <0120>.
The nations <01471> heard <08085> about <0413> him; he was trapped <08610> in their pit <07845>. They brought <0935> him with hooks <02397> to <0413> the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>.
“‘When she realized <07200> that <03588> she waited <03176> in vain, her hope <08615> was lost <06>. She took <03947> another <0259> of her cubs <01482> and made <07760> him a young lion <03715>.
He walked <01980> about among <08432> the lions <0738>; he became <01961> a young lion <03715>. He learned <03925> to tear <02963> prey <02964>; he devoured <0398> people <0120>.
He broke down <03045> their strongholds <0490> and devastated <02717> their cities <05892>. The land <0776> and everything <04393> in it was frightened <03456> at the sound <06963> of his roaring <07581>.
The nations <01471>– the surrounding <05439> regions <04082>– attacked <05921> <05414> him. They threw <06566> their net <07568> over <05921> him; he was caught <08610> in their pit <07845>.
They put <05414> him in a collar <05474> with hooks <02397>; they brought <0935> him to <0413> the king <04428> of Babylon <0894>; they brought <0935> him to prison <04686> so that <04616> his voice <06963> would not <03808> be heard <08085> any longer <05750> on <0413> the mountains <02022> of Israel <03478>.
“‘Your mother <0517> was like a vine <01612> in <05921> your vineyard <01818>, planted <08362> by water <04325>. It was fruitful <06509> and full of branches <06058> because it was <01961> well-watered <07227> <04325>.
Its boughs <04294> were <01961> strong <05797>, fit for <0413> rulers <04910>’ scepters <07626>; it reached up <01361> into <0996> <05921> the clouds <05688>. It stood out <07200> because of its height <01363> and its many <07230> branches <01808>.
But it was plucked up <05428> in anger <02534>; it was thrown down <07993> to the ground <0776>. The east <06921> wind <07307> dried <03001> up its fruit <06529>; its strong <05797> branches <04294> broke off <06561> and withered <03001>– a fire <0784> consumed <0398> them.
Now <06258> it is planted <08362> in the wilderness <04057>, in a dry <06723> and thirsty <06772> land <0776>.
A fire <0784> has gone out <03318> from its branch <04294>; it has consumed <0398> its shoot and its fruit <06529>. No <03808> strong <05797> branch <04294> was left in it, nor a scepter <07626> to rule <04910>.’ This is a lament <07015> song, and has become <01961> a lament <07015> song.”
