2"The Spirit<7307> of the LORD<3068> spoke<1696> by me, And His word<4405> was on my tongue<3956>.
3"The God<430> of Israel<3478> said<559>, The Rock<6697> of Israel<3478> spoke<1696> to me, 'He who rules<4910> over men<120> righteously<6662>, Who rules<4910> in the fear<3374> of God<430>,

9and after<310> him was Eleazar<499> the son<1121> of Dodo<1734> the Ahohite<266>, one of the three<7969> mighty<1368> men<1368> with David<1732> when they defied<2778> the Philistines<6430> who were gathered<622> there<8033> to battle<4421> and the men<376> of Israel<3478> had withdrawn<5927>.
10He arose<6965> and struck<5221> the Philistines<6430> until<5704><3588> his hand<3027> was weary<3021> and clung<1692> to the sword<2719>, and the LORD<3068> brought<6213> about<6213> a great<1419> victory<8668> that day<3117>; and the people<5971> returned<7725> after<310> him only<389> to strip<6584> the slain.

15David<1732> had<183> a craving<183> and said<559>, "Oh<4310> that someone<4310> would give<8248> me water<4325> to drink<8248> from the well<877> of Bethlehem<1035> which<834> is by the gate<8179>!"
16So the three<7969> mighty<1368> men<1368> broke<1234> through<1234> the camp<4264> of the Philistines<6430>, and drew<7579> water<4325> from the well<877> of Bethlehem<1035> which<834> was by the gate<8179>, and took<5375> it and brought<935> it to David<1732>. Nevertheless he would<14> not drink<8354> it, but poured<5258> it out to the LORD<3068>;
17and he said<559>, "Be it far<2486> from me, O LORD<3068>, that I should do<6213> this<2088>. Shall I drink the blood<1818> of the men<376> who went<1980> in jeopardy of their lives<5315>?" Therefore he would<14> not drink<8354> it. These<428> things<428> the three<7969> mighty<1368> men<1368> did<6213>.
18Abishai<52>, the brother<251> of Joab<3097>, the son<1121> of Zeruiah<6870>, was chief<7218> of the thirty<7992>. And he swung<5782> his spear<2595> against<5921> three<7969> hundred<3967> and killed<2491> them, and had a name<8034> as well as the three<7969>.
19He was most<4480> honored<3513> of the thirty<7969>, therefore he became<1961> their commander<8269>; however, he did not attain<935> to the three<7969>.
20Then Benaiah<1141> the son<1121> of Jehoiada<3077>, the son<1121> of a valiant<2428> man<376> of Kabzeel<6909>, who had done mighty<7227> deeds<6467>, killed<5221> the two<8147> sons of Ariel<739> of Moab<4124>. 21He killed<5221> an Egyptian<4713>, an impressive<4758> man<376>. Now the Egyptian<4713> had a spear<2595> in his hand<3027>, but he went<3381> down<3381> to him with a club<7626> and snatched<1497> the spear<2595> from the Egyptian's<4713> hand<3027> and killed<2026> him with his own spear<2595>.

23He was honored<3513> among<4480> the thirty<7970>, but he did not attain<935> to the three<7969>. And David<1732> appointed<7760> him over<413> his guard<4928>.
