Then it came<1961> about after<310> these<428> things<1697>, the cupbearer<4945> and the baker<644> for the king<4428> of Egypt<4714> offended<2398> their lord<113>, the king<4428> of Egypt<4714>.
Pharaoh<6547> was furious<7107> with his two<8147> officials<5631>, the chief<8269> cupbearer<4945> and the chief<8269> baker<644>.
So he put<5414> them in confinement<4929> in the house<1004> of the captain<8269> of the bodyguard<2876>, in the jail<1004><5470>, the same place<4725> where<834><8033> Joseph<3130> was imprisoned<631>.
The captain<8269> of the bodyguard<2876> put<6485> Joseph<3130> in charge<6485> of them, and he took<8334> care<8334> of them; and they were in confinement<4929> for some<3117> time<3117>.
Then the cupbearer<4945> and the baker<644> for the king<4428> of Egypt<4714>, who<834> were confined<631> in jail<1004><5470>, both<8147> had<2492> a dream<2472> the same<259> night<3915>, each<376> man<376> with his own dream<2472> and each<376> dream<2472> with its own interpretation<6623>.
When Joseph<3130> came<935> to them in the morning<1242> and observed<7200> them, behold<2009>, they were dejected<2196>.
He asked<7592> Pharaoh's<6547> officials<5631> who<834> were with him in confinement<4929> in his master's<113> house<1004>, "Why<4069> are your faces<6440> so sad<7451> today<3117>?"
Then they said<559> to him, "We have had<2492> a dream<2472> and there<369> is no<369> one<369> to interpret<6622> it." Then Joseph<3130> said<559> to them, "Do not interpretations<6623> belong to God<430>? Tell<5608> it to me, please<4994>."
So the chief<8269> cupbearer<4945> told<5608> his dream<2472> to Joseph<3130>, and said<559> to him, "In my dream<2472>, behold<2009>, there was a vine<1612> in front<6440> of me;
and on the vine<1612> were three<7969> branches<8299>. And as it was budding<6524>, its blossoms<5322> came<5927> out, and its clusters<811> produced<1310> ripe<1310> grapes<6025>.
"Now Pharaoh's<6547> cup<3563> was in my hand<3027>; so I took<3947> the grapes<6025> and squeezed<7818> them into Pharaoh's<6547> cup<3563>, and I put<5414> the cup<3563> into Pharaoh's<6547> hand<3709>."
Then Joseph<3130> said<559> to him, "This<2088> is the interpretation<6623> of it: the three<7969> branches<8299> are three<7969> days<3117>;
within three<7969> more<5750> days<3117> Pharaoh<6547> will lift<5375> up your head<7218> and restore<7725> you to your office<3653>; and you will put<5414> Pharaoh's<6547> cup<3563> into his hand<3027> according to your former<7223> custom<4941> when<834> you were his cupbearer<4945>.
"Only<3588><518> keep<2142> me in mind when<3512> it goes<3190> well<3190> with you, and please<4994> do<6213> me a kindness<2617> by mentioning<2142> me to Pharaoh<6547> and get<3318> me out of this<2088> house<1004>.
"For I was in fact<1589> kidnapped<1589> from the land<776> of the Hebrews<5680>, and even<1571> here<6311> I have done<6213> nothing<3808><3972> that they should have put<7760> me into the dungeon<953>."
When the chief<8269> baker<644> saw<7200> that he had interpreted<6622> favorably<2896>, he said<559> to Joseph<3130>, "I also<637> saw in my dream<2472>, and behold<2009>, there were three<7969> baskets<5536> of white<2751> bread<2751> on my head<7218>;
and in the top<5945> basket<5536> there were some<4480> of all<3605> sorts of baked<644> food<3978> for Pharaoh<6547>, and the birds<5775> were eating<398> them out of the basket<5536> on my head<7218>."
Then Joseph<3130> answered<6030> and said<559>, "This<2088> is its interpretation<6623>: the three<7969> baskets<5536> are three<7969> days<3117>;
within three<7969> more<5750> days<3117> Pharaoh<6547> will lift<5375> up your head<7218> from you and will hang<8518> you on a tree<6086>, and the birds<5775> will eat<398> your flesh<1320> off<4480><5921> you."
Thus it came<1961> about on the third<7992> day<3117>, which was Pharaoh's<6547> birthday<3205><3117>, that he made<6213> a feast<4960> for all<3605> his servants<5650>; and he lifted<5375> up the head<7218> of the chief<8269> cupbearer<4945> and the head<7218> of the chief<8269> baker<644> among<8432> his servants<5650>.
He restored<7725> the chief<8269> cupbearer<4945> to his office<4945>, and he put<5414> the cup<3563> into Pharaoh's<6547> hand<3709>;
but he hanged<8518> the chief<8269> baker<644>, just<3512> as Joseph<3130> had interpreted<6622> to them.
Yet the chief<8269> cupbearer<4945> did not remember<2142> Joseph<3130>, but forgot<7911> him.
