2(On the fifth<2568> of the month<2320> in the fifth<2549> year<8141> of King<4428> Jehoiachin's<3078> exile<1546>,
3the word<1697> of the LORD<3068> came<1961> expressly<1961> to Ezekiel<3168> the priest<3548>, son<1121> of Buzi<941>, in the land<776> of the Chaldeans<3778> by the river<5104> Chebar<3529>; and there<8033> the hand<3027> of the LORD<3068> came<1961> upon him.)
4As I looked<7200>, behold<2009>, a storm<5591> wind<7307> was coming<935> from the north<6828>, a great<1419> cloud<6051> with fire<784> flashing<3947> forth<3947> continually and a bright<5051> light<5051> around<5439> it, and in its midst<8432> something like glowing<2830> metal<2830> in the midst<8432> of the fire<784>.
5Within<8432> it there were figures<1823> resembling<1823> four<702> living<2421> beings<2421>. And this<2088> was their appearance<4758>: they had human<120> form<1823>.
6Each<259> of them had four<702> faces<6440> and four<702> wings<3671>.
7Their legs<7272> were straight<3477> and their feet<7272> were like a calf's<5695> hoof<3709><7272>, and they gleamed<5340> like burnished<7044> bronze<5178>.
8Under<8478> their wings<3671> on their four<702> sides<7253> were human<120> hands<3027>. As for the faces<6440> and wings<3671> of the four<702> of them,
9their wings<3671> touched<2266> one<802> another<269>; their faces did not turn<5437> when they moved<1980>, each<376> went<1980> straight<413><5676><6440> forward<6440>.
10As for the form<1823> of their faces<6440>, each had the face<6440> of a man<120>; all four<702> had the face<6440> of a lion<743> on the right<3225> and the face<6440> of a bull<7794> on the left<8040>, and all four<702> had the face<6440> of an eagle<5404>.
11Such were their faces<6440>. Their wings<3671> were spread<6504> out above<4480><4605>; each<376> had two<8147> touching<2266> another<376> being, and two<8147> covering<3680> their bodies<1472>.
12And each<376> went<1980> straight<413><5676><6440> forward<6440>; wherever<413><834><8033> the spirit<7307> was about to go<1980>, they would go<1980>, without<3808> turning<5437> as they went<1980>.
13In the midst of the living<2421> beings<2421> there was something that looked<4758> like burning<1197> coals<1513> of fire<784>, like<4758> torches<3940> darting<1980> back<1980> and forth among<996> the living<2421> beings<2421>. The fire<784> was bright<5051>, and lightning<1300> was flashing<3318> from the fire<784>.
14And the living<2421> beings<2421> ran<7519> to and fro<7725> like<4758> bolts<965> of lightning<965>.
15Now as I looked<7200> at the living<2421> beings<2421>, behold<2009>, there was one<259> wheel<212> on the earth<776> beside<681> the living<2421> beings<2421>, for each of the four<702> of them.
16The appearance<4758> of the wheels<212> and their workmanship<4639> was like sparkling<5869> beryl<8658>, and all four<702> of them had the same<259> form<1823>, their appearance<4758> and workmanship<4639> being as if<3512> one wheel<212> were within<8432> another<212>.
17Whenever they moved<1980>, they moved<1980> in any<702> of their four<702> directions<7253> without<3808> turning<5437> as they moved<1980>.
18As for their rims<1354> they were lofty<1363> and awesome<3374>, and the rims<1354> of all four<702> of them were full<4392> of eyes<5869> round<5439> about<5439>.
19Whenever the living<2421> beings<2421> moved<1980>, the wheels<212> moved<1980> with them. And whenever the living<2421> beings<2421> rose<5375> from the earth<776>, the wheels<212> rose<5375> also.
20Wherever<5921><834><8033> the spirit<7307> was about to go<1980>, they would go<1980> in that direction<8033>. And the wheels<212> rose<5375> close<5980> beside<5980> them; for the spirit<7307> of the living<2421> beings<2421> was in the wheels<212>.
21Whenever those went<1980>, these went<1980>; and whenever those stood<5975> still<5975>, these stood<5975> still<5975>. And whenever those rose<5375> from the earth<776>, the wheels<212> rose<5375> close<5980> beside<5980> them; for the spirit<7307> of the living<2421> beings<2421> was in the wheels<212>.
22Now over<5921> the heads<7218> of the living<2421> beings<2421> there was something like<1823> an expanse<7549>, like the awesome<3372> gleam<5869> of crystal<7140>, spread<5186> out over<5921><4605> their heads<7218>.
23Under<8478> the expanse<7549> their wings<3671> were stretched out straight<3477>, one<802> toward<413> the other<269>; each<376> one<376> also had two<8147> wings covering<3680> its body<1472> on the one<376> side<2008> and on the other<2008>.
24I also heard<8085> the sound<6963> of their wings<3671> like the sound<6963> of abundant<7227> waters<4325> as they went<1980>, like the voice<6963> of the Almighty<7706>, a sound<6963> of tumult<1999> like the sound<6963> of an army<4264> camp<4264>; whenever they stood<5975> still<5975>, they dropped<7503> their wings<3671>.
25And there came<1961> a voice<6963> from above<5921> the expanse<7549> that was over<5921> their heads<7218>; whenever they stood<5975> still<5975>, they dropped<7503> their wings<3671>.
26Now above<4480><4605> the expanse<7549> that was over<5921> their heads<7218> there was something<1823> resembling<1823> a throne<3678>, like lapis<68><5601> lazuli<68><5601> in appearance<4758>; and on that which<1823> resembled<1823> a throne<3678>, high<4480><4605> up, was a figure<1823> with the appearance<4758> of a man<120>.
27Then I noticed<7200> from the appearance<4758> of His loins<4975> and upward<4605> something<4758> like glowing<2830> metal<2830> that looked<4758> like fire<784> all<5439> around<5439> within<1004> it, and from the appearance<4758> of His loins<4975> and downward<4295> I saw<7200> something<4758> like fire<784>; and there was a radiance<5051> around<5439> Him.
28As the appearance<4758> of the rainbow<7198> in the clouds<6051> on a rainy<1653> day<3117>, so<3651> was the appearance<4758> of the surrounding<5439> radiance<5051>. Such<1931> was the appearance<4758> of the likeness<1823> of the glory<3519> of the LORD<3068>. And when I saw<7200> it, I fell<5307> on my face<6440> and heard<8085> a voice<6963> speaking<1696>.
