2"You shall not take a wife<802> for yourself nor<3808> have<1961> sons<1121> or daughters<1323> in this<2088> place<4725>."
3For thus<3541> says<559> the LORD<3068> concerning<5921> the sons<1121> and daughters<1323> born<3209> in this<2088> place<4725>, and concerning<5921> their mothers<517> who bear<3205> them, and their fathers<1> who beget<3205> them in this<384> land<776>:
4"They will die<4191> of deadly<4463> diseases<8463>, they will not be lamented<5594> or buried<6912>; they will be as dung<1828> on the surface<6440> of the ground<127> and come<3615> to an end<3615> by sword<2719> and famine<7458>, and their carcasses<5038> will become<1961> food<3978> for the birds<5775> of the sky<8064> and for the beasts<929> of the earth<776>."
5For thus<3541> says<559> the LORD<3068>, "Do not enter<935> a house<1004> of mourning<4798>, or go<1980> to lament<5594> or to console<5110> them; for I have withdrawn<622> My peace<7965> from this<2088> people<5971>," declares<5002> the LORD<3068>, "My lovingkindness<2617> and compassion<7356>.
6"Both great<1419> men<1419> and small<6996> will die<4191> in this<384> land<776>; they will not be buried<6912>, they will not be lamented<5594>, nor<3808> will anyone gash<1413> himself or shave<7139> his head<7139> for them.
7"Men will not break<6536> bread in mourning<60> for them, to comfort<5162> anyone for the dead<4191>, nor<3808> give<8248> them a cup<3563> of consolation<8575> to drink<8248> for anyone's father<1> or mother<517>.
8"Moreover you shall not go<935> into a house<1004> of feasting<4960> to sit<3427> with them to eat<398> and drink<8354>."
9For thus<3541> says<559> the LORD<3068> of hosts<6635>, the God<430> of Israel<3478>: "Behold<2009>, I am going to eliminate<7673> from this<2088> place<4725>, before your eyes<5869> and in your time<3117>, the voice<6963> of rejoicing<8342> and the voice<6963> of gladness<8057>, the voice<6963> of the groom<2860> and the voice<6963> of the bride<3618>.
10"Now when<3588> you tell<5046> this<2088> people<5971> all<3605> these<428> words<1697>, they will say<559> to you, 'For what<4100> reason<5921><4100> has the LORD<3068> declared<1696> all<3605> this<384> great<1419> calamity<7463> against<5921> us? And what<4100> is our iniquity<5771>, or what<4100> is our sin<2403> which<834> we have committed<2398> against the LORD<3068> our God<430>?'
11"Then you are to say<559> to them, 'It is because<5921><834> your forefathers<1> have forsaken<5800> Me,' declares<5002> the LORD<3068>, 'and have followed<1980><310> other<312> gods<430> and served<5647> them and bowed<7812> down<7812> to them; but Me they have forsaken<5800> and have not kept<8104> My law<8451>.
12'You too have done<6213> evil<7451>, even more<4480> than<4480> your forefathers<1>; for behold<2009>, you are each<376> one<376> walking<1980> according<310> to the stubbornness<8307> of his own evil<7451> heart<3820>, without<1115> listening<8085> to Me.
13'So I will hurl<2904> you out of this<384> land<776> into the land<776> which<834> you have not known<3045>, neither you nor<3808> your fathers<1>; and there<8033> you will serve<5647> other<312> gods<430> day<3119> and night<3915>, for I will grant<5414> you no<3808> favor<2594>.'
14"Therefore<3651> behold<2009>, days<3117> are coming<935>," declares<5002> the LORD<3068>, "when it will no<3808> longer<5750> be said<559>, 'As the LORD<3068> lives<2416>, who<834> brought<5927> up the sons<1121> of Israel<3478> out of the land<776> of Egypt<4714>,'
15but, 'As the LORD<3068> lives<2416>, who<834> brought<5927> up the sons<1121> of Israel<3478> from the land<776> of the north<6828> and from all<3605> the countries<776> where<834><8033> He had banished<5080> them.' For I will restore<7725> them to their own land<127> which<834> I gave<5414> to their fathers<1>.
16"Behold<2009>, I am going to send<7971> for many<7227> fishermen<1728>," declares<5002> the LORD<3068>, "and they will fish<1770> for them; and afterwards<310><3651> I will send<7971> for many<7227> hunters<6719>, and they will hunt<6679> them from every<3605> mountain<2022> and every<3605> hill<1389> and from the clefts<5357> of the rocks<5553>.
17"For My eyes<5869> are on all<3605> their ways<1870>; they are not hidden<5641> from My face<6440>, nor<3808> is their iniquity<5771> concealed<6845> from My eyes<5869>.
18"I will first<7223> doubly<4932> repay<7999> their iniquity<5771> and their sin<2403>, because<5921> they have polluted<2490> My land<776>; they have filled<4390> My inheritance<5159> with the carcasses<5038> of their detestable<8251> idols<8251> and with their abominations<8441>."
19O LORD<3068>, my strength<5797> and my stronghold<4581>, And my refuge<4498> in the day<3117> of distress<6869>, To You the nations<1471> will come<935> From the ends<657> of the earth<776> and say<559>, "Our fathers<1> have inherited<5157> nothing<389> but falsehood<8267>, Futility<1892> and things<3276> of no<369> profit<3276>."
20Can man<120> make<6213> gods<430> for himself? Yet they are not gods<430>!
21"Therefore<3651> behold<2009>, I am going to make them know<3045>-- This<384> time<6471> I will make them know<3045> My power<3027> and My might<1369>; And they shall know<3045> that My name<8034> is the LORD<3068>."
