Then Job <0347> answered <06030>:
“Without a doubt <0551> you <0859> are the people <05971>, and wisdom <02451> will die <04191> with <05973> you.
I also have understanding <03824> as well <01571> as <03644> you; I <0595> am not <03808> inferior <05307> to you. Who <04310> does not <0369> know <0854> such <03644> things as these <0428>?
I am a laughingstock <07814> to my friends <07453>, I, who called <07121> on God <0433> and whom he answered <06030>– a righteous <06662> and blameless <08549> man is a laughingstock <07814>!
For calamity <03940>, there is derision <0937> (according to the ideas <06248> of the fortunate <07600>)– a fate <03559> for those whose feet <07272> slip <04571>!
But the tents <0168> of robbers <07703> are peaceful <07951>, and those who provoke <07264> God <0410> are confident <0987>– who <0834> carry <0935> their god <0433> in their hands <03027>.
“But <0199> now <04994>, ask <07592> the animals <0929> and they will teach <03384> you, or the birds <05775> of the sky <08064> and they will tell <05046> you.
Or <0176> speak <07878> to the earth <0776> and it will teach <03384> you, or let the fish <01709> of the sea <03220> declare <05608> to you.
Which <04310> of all <03605> these <0428> does not <03808> know <03045> that <03588> the hand <03027> of the Lord <03069> has done <06213> this <02063>,
in whose <0834> hand <03027> is the life <05315> of every <03605> creature <02416> and the breath <07307> of all <03605> the human race <0376> <01320>.
Does not <03808> the ear <0241> test <0974> words <04405>, as the tongue <02441> tastes <02938> food <0400>?
Is not wisdom <02451> found among the aged <03453>? Does not long <0753> life <03117> bring understanding <08394>?
“With <05973> God are wisdom <02451> and power <01369>; counsel <06098> and understanding <08394> are his.
If <02005> he tears down <02040>, it cannot <03808> be rebuilt <01129>; if he imprisons <05462> a person <0376>, there is no <03808> escape <06605>.
If <02005> he holds back <06113> the waters <04325>, then they dry up <03001>; if he releases <07971> them, they destroy <02015> the land <0776>.
With <05973> him are strength <05797> and prudence <08454>; both the one who goes astray <07683> and the one who misleads <07686> are his.
He leads <01980> counselors <03289> away <01980> stripped <07758> and makes <01984> judges <08199> into fools <01984>.
He loosens <04148> the bonds <06605> of kings <04428> and binds <0631> a loincloth <0232> around their waist <04975>.
He leads <01980> priests <03548> away <01980> stripped <07758> and overthrows <05557> the potentates <0386>.
He deprives <05493> the trusted <0539> advisers of speech <08193> and takes <03947> away the discernment <02940> of elders <02205>.
He pours <08210> contempt <0937> on <05921> noblemen <05081> and disarms <07503> the powerful <0650> <04206>.
He reveals <01540> the deep <06013> things of darkness <02822>, and brings <03318> deep shadows <06757> into the light <0216>.
He makes <07679> nations <01471> great <07679>, and destroys <06> them; he extends <07849> the boundaries of nations <01471> and disperses <05148> them.
He deprives <03820> <05493> the leaders <07218> of the earth <0776> <05971> of their understanding; he makes them wander <08582> in a trackless <01870> <03808> desert waste <08414>.
They grope <04959> about in darkness <02822> without <03808> light <0216>; he makes them stagger <08582> like drunkards <07910>.
