2“This <02063> is the ordinance <02708> of the law <08451> which <0834> the Lord <03068> has commanded <06680>: ‘Instruct <01696> the Israelites <03478> <01121> to <0413> bring <03947> you a red <0122> heifer <06510> without blemish <08549>, which <0834> has no <0369> defect <03971> and has <0834> never <03808> carried <05927> a yoke <05923>.
3You must give <05414> it to <0413> Eleazar <0499> the priest <03548> so that he can take <03318> it outside <02351> <0413> the camp <04264>, and it must be slaughtered <07819> before <06440> him.
4Eleazar <0499> the priest <03548> is to take <03947> some of its blood <01818> with his finger <0676>, and sprinkle <05137> some of the blood <01818> seven <07651> times <06471> directly <05227> in front <06440> of the tent <0168> of meeting <04150>.
5Then the heifer <06510> must be burned <08313> in his sight <05869>– its skin <05785>, its flesh <01320>, its blood <01818>, and its offal <06569> is to be burned <08313>.
6And the priest <03548> must take <03947> cedar <0730> wood <06086>, hyssop <0231>, and scarlet <08438> <08144> wool and throw <07993> them into <0413> the midst <08432> of the fire where the heifer <06510> is burning <08316>.
7Then the priest <03548> must wash <03526> his clothes <0899> and bathe <07364> himself <01320> in water <04325>, and afterward <0310> he may come <0935> into <0413> the camp <04264>, but the priest <03548> will be ceremonially unclean <02930> until <05704> evening <06153>.
8The one who burns <08313> it must wash <03526> his clothes <0899> in water <04325> and bathe <07364> himself <01320> in water <04325>. He will be ceremonially unclean <02930> until <05704> evening <06153>.
9“‘Then a man <0376> who is ceremonially clean <02889> must gather up <0622> the ashes <0665> of the red heifer <06510> and put <03240> them in a ceremonially clean <02889> place <04725> outside <02351> the camp <04264>. They must be <01961> kept <04931> for the community <05712> of the Israelites <03478> <01121> for use in the water <04325> of purification <05079>– it is a purification for sin <02403>.
10The one who gathers <0622> the ashes <0665> of the heifer <06510> must wash <03526> his clothes <0899> and be ceremonially unclean <02930> until <05704> evening <06153>. This will be <01961> a permanent <05769> ordinance <02708> both for the Israelites <03478> <01121> and the resident foreigner <01616> who lives <01481> among <08432> them.
11“‘Whoever touches <05060> the corpse <04191> of any <03605> person <0120> <05315> will be ceremonially unclean <02930> seven <07651> days <03117>.
12He <01931> must purify <02398> himself with water on the third <07992> day <03117> and on the seventh <07637> day <03117>, and so will be clean <02891>. But if <0518> he does not <03808> purify <02398> himself on the third <07992> day <03117> and the seventh <07637> day <03117>, then he will not <03808> be clean <02891>.
13Anyone <03605> who touches <05060> the corpse <05315> <04191> of any dead <04191> person <0120> and does not <03808> purify <02398> himself defiles <02930> the tabernacle <04908> of the Lord <03069>. And that <01931> person <05315> must be cut off <03772> from Israel <03478>, because <03588> the water <04325> of purification <05079> was not <03808> sprinkled <02236> on <05921> him. He will be <01961> unclean <02931>; his uncleanness <02932> remains <05750> on him.
14“‘This <02063> is the law <08451>: When <03588> a man <0120> dies <04191> in a tent <0168>, anyone <03605> who comes <0935> into <0413> the tent <0168> and all <03605> who <0834> are in the tent <0168> will be ceremonially unclean <02930> seven <07651> days <03117>.
15And every <03605> open <06605> container <03627> that <0834> has no <0369> covering <06781> fastened <06616> on <05921> it is <01931> unclean <02931>.
16And whoever <0834> <03605> touches <05060> the body of someone killed <02491> with a sword <02719> in <05921> the open <06440> fields <07704>, or <0176> the body of someone who died <04191> of natural causes, or <0176> a human <0120> bone <06106>, or <0176> a grave <06913>, will be unclean <02930> seven <07651> days <03117>.
17“‘For a ceremonially unclean <02931> person you must take <03947> some of the ashes <06083> of the heifer burnt <08316> for purification <02403> from sin and pour <05414> fresh running <02416> water <04325> over <05921> them in <0413> a vessel <03627>.
18Then a ceremonially clean <02889> person <0376> must take <03947> hyssop <0231>, dip <02881> it in the water <04325>, and sprinkle <05137> it on <05921> the tent <0168>, on <05921> all <03605> its furnishings <03627>, and on <05921> the people <05315> who <0834> were <01961> there <08033>, or on <05921> the one who touched <05060> a bone <06106>, or <0176> one killed <02491>, or <0176> one who died <04191>, or <0176> a grave <06913>.
19And the clean <02889> person must sprinkle <05137> the unclean <02931> on <05921> the third <07992> day <03117> and on the seventh <07637> day <03117>; and on the seventh <07637> day <03117> he must purify <02398> him, and then he must wash <03526> his clothes <0899>, and bathe <07364> in water <04325>, and he will be clean <02891> in the evening <06153>.
20But the man <0376> who <0834> is unclean <02930> and does not <03808> purify <02398> himself <05315>, that person <01931> must be cut off <03772> from among <08432> the community <06951>, because <03588> he has polluted <02930> the sanctuary <04720> of the Lord <03068>; the water <04325> of purification <05079> was not <03808> sprinkled <02236> on <05921> him, so he <01931> is unclean <02931>.
21“‘So this will be <01961> a perpetual <05769> ordinance <02708> for them: The one who sprinkles <05137> the water <04325> of purification <05079> must wash <03526> his clothes <0899>, and the one who touches <05060> the water <04325> of purification <05079> will be unclean <02930> until <05704> evening <06153>.
22And whatever <03605> the unclean <02931> person touches <05060> will be unclean <02930>, and the person <05315> who touches <05060> it will be unclean <02930> until <05704> evening <06153>.’”
