After <0310> these <0428> things <01697> happened <01961>, the cupbearer <04945> to the king <04428> of Egypt <04714> and the royal baker <0644> offended <02398> their master <0113>, the king <04428> of Egypt <04714>.
Pharaoh <06547> was enraged <07107> with his two <08147> officials <05631>, the cupbearer <04945> <08269> and the baker <0644> <08269>,
so he imprisoned <04929> <05414> them in the house <01004> of the captain <08269> of the guard <02876> in <0413> the same facility <04725> where <0834> Joseph <03130> was confined <0631>.
The captain <08269> of the guard <02876> appointed <06485> Joseph <03130> to <0854> be their attendant, and he served <08334> them. They spent <01961> some time <03117> in custody <04929>.
Both of them <08147>, the cupbearer <04945> and the baker <0644> of the king <04428> of Egypt <04714>, who <0834> were confined <0631> in the prison <05470>, had a dream <02472> <02492> the same night <03915>. Each <0259> man’s <0582> dream <02472> had its own meaning <06623>.
When Joseph <03130> came <0935> to <0413> them in the morning <01242>, he saw <07200> that they were looking <02005> depressed <02196>.
So he asked <07592> Pharaoh’s <06547> officials <05631>, who <0834> were with <0854> him in custody <04929> in his master’s <0113> house <01004>, “Why <04069> do you look <06440> so sad <07451> today <03117>?”
They told <0559> him, “We both had <02492> dreams <02472>, but there is no one <0369> to <0413> interpret <06622> them.” Joseph <03130> responded <0559>, “Don’t <03808> interpretations <06623> belong to God <0430>? Tell <05608> them to me.”
So the chief <08269> cupbearer <04945> told <05608> his dream <02472> to Joseph <03130>: “In my dream <02472>, there was a vine <01612> in front <06440> of me.
On the vine <01612> there were three <07969> branches <08299>. As it <01931> budded <06524>, its blossoms <05322> opened <05927> and its clusters <0811> ripened <01310> into grapes <06025>.
Now Pharaoh’s <06547> cup <03563> was in my hand <03027>, so I took <03947> the grapes <06025>, squeezed <07818> them into <0413> his <06547> cup <03563>, and put <05414> the cup <03563> in <05921> Pharaoh’s <06547> hand <03709>.”
“This <02088> is its meaning <06623>,” Joseph <03130> said <0559> to him. “The three <07969> branches <08299> represent three <07969> days <03117>.
In three <07969> more <05750> days <03117> Pharaoh <06547> will reinstate <07218> <05375> you and restore <07725> you to <05921> your office <03653>. You will put <05414> Pharaoh’s <06547> cup <03563> in his hand <03027>, just <04941> as <0834> you did before <07223> when you were <01961> cupbearer <04945>.
But <0518> remember <02142> me when <0834> it goes well <03190> for you, and show <06213> me <05978> kindness <02617>. Make mention <02142> of me to <0413> Pharaoh <06547> and bring <03318> me out <03318> of <04480> this <02088> prison <01004>,
for <03588> I really <01589> <01589> was kidnapped <01589> <01589> from the land <0776> of the Hebrews <05680> and <01571> I have done <06213> nothing <03972> <03808> wrong here <06311> for <03588> which they should put <07760> me in a dungeon <0953>.”
When the chief <08269> baker <0644> saw <07200> that <03588> the interpretation <06622> of the first dream was favorable <02896>, he said <0559> to <0413> Joseph <03130>, “I <0589> also <0637> appeared in my dream <02472> and there were three <07969> baskets <05536> of white bread <02751> on <05921> my head <07218>.
In the top <05945> basket <05536> there were baked <0644> goods <04639> <03978> of every <03605> kind for Pharaoh <06547>, but the birds <05775> were eating <0398> them from <04480> the basket <05536> that was on <05921> my head <07218>.”
Joseph <03130> replied <06030>, “This <02088> is its meaning <06623>: The three <07969> baskets <05536> represent three <07969> days <03117>.
In three <07969> more <05750> days <03117> Pharaoh <06547> will decapitate <07218> <05375> you and impale <08518> you on <05921> a pole <06086>. Then the birds <05775> will eat <0398> your flesh <01320> from <05921> you.”
On the third <07992> day <03117> it was Pharaoh’s <06547> birthday <03205>, so he gave <06213> a feast <04960> for all <03605> his servants <05650>. He “lifted <05375> up” the head <07218> of the chief <08269> cupbearer <04945> and the head <07218> of the chief <08269> baker <0644> in the midst <08432> of his servants <05650>.
He restored <07725> the chief <08269> cupbearer <04945> to his former position <04945> so that he placed <05414> the cup <03563> in <05921> Pharaoh’s <06547> hand <03709>,
but the chief <08269> baker <0644> he impaled <08518>, just as <0834> Joseph <03130> had predicted <06622>.
But the chief <08269> cupbearer <04945> did not <03808> remember <02142> Joseph <03130>– he forgot <07911> him.
