2You <0859> are to speak <01696> everything <03605> I command <06680> you, and your brother <0251> Aaron <0175> is to tell <01696> Pharaoh <06547> that he must release <07971> the Israelites <03478> <01121> from his land <0776>.
3But I <0589> will harden <07185> Pharaoh’s <06547> heart <03820>, and although I will multiply <07235> my signs <0226> and my wonders <04159> in the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>,
4Pharaoh <06547> will not <03808> listen <08085> to <0413> you. I will reach <05414> into Egypt <04714> and bring out <03318> my regiments <06635>, my people <05971> the Israelites <03478> <01121>, from the land <0776> of Egypt <04714> with great <01419> acts of judgment <08201>.
5Then the Egyptians <04713> will know <03045> that <03588> I <0589> am the Lord <03068>, when I extend <05186> my hand <03027> over <05921> Egypt <04713> and bring <03318> the Israelites <03478> <01121> out <03318> from among <08432> them.
6And Moses <04872> and Aaron <0175> did <06213> so <03651>; they did <06213> just as <0834> the Lord <03068> commanded <06680> them.
7Now Moses <04872> was eighty <08084> years <08141> old <01121> and Aaron <0175> was eighty-three <08084> <07969> years <08141> old <01121> when they spoke <01696> to <0413> Pharaoh <06547>.
8The Lord <03068> said <0559> <0559> to <0413> Moses <04872> and Aaron <0175>,
9“When Pharaoh <06547> says <0559> to you, ‘Do a miracle <04159>,’ and you say <0559> to <0413> Aaron <0175>, ‘Take <03947> your staff <04294> and throw <07993> it down <07993> before <06440> Pharaoh <06547>,’ it will become <01961> a snake <08577>.”
10When Moses <04872> and Aaron <0175> went <0935> to <0413> Pharaoh <06547>, they did <06213> so <03651>, just <0834> as the Lord <03068> had commanded <06680> them– Aaron <0175> threw down <07993> his staff <04294> before <06440> Pharaoh <06547> and his servants <05650> and it became <01961> a snake <08577>.
11Then Pharaoh <06547> also <01571> summoned <07121> wise men <02450> and sorcerers <03784>, and the magicians <02748> of Egypt <04714> by their <01992> secret arts <03858> did <06213> the same thing <03651>.
12Each man <0376> threw down <07993> his staff <04294>, and the staffs became <01961> snakes <08577>. But Aaron’s <0175> staff <04294> swallowed up <01104> their staffs <04294>.
13Yet Pharaoh’s <06547> heart <03820> became hard <02388>, and he did not <03808> listen <08085> to <0413> them, just as <0834> the Lord <03068> had predicted <01696>.
14The Lord <03068> said <0559> to <0413> Moses <04872>, “Pharaoh’s <06547> heart <03820> is hard <03515>; he refuses <03985> to release <07971> the people <05971>.
15Go <01980> to <0413> Pharaoh <06547> in the morning <01242> when he goes out <03318> to the water <04325>. Position <05324> yourself to meet <07125> him by <05921> the edge <08193> of the Nile <02975>, and take <03947> in your hand <03027> the staff <04294> that <0834> was turned <02015> into a snake <05175>.
16Tell <0559> him, ‘The Lord <03068>, the God <0430> of the Hebrews <05680>, has sent <07971> me to <0413> you to say <0559>, “Release <07971> my people <05971>, that they may serve <05647> me in the desert <04057>!” But until <05704> now <03541> you have not <03808> listened <08085>.
17Thus <03541> says <0559> the Lord <03068>: “By this <02063> you will know <03045> that <03588> I <0589> am the Lord <03068>: I <0595> am going to strike <05221> the water <04325> of <0834> the Nile <02975> with the staff <04294> that <0834> is in <05921> my hand <03027>, and it will be turned <02015> into blood <01818>.
18Fish <01710> in the Nile <02975> will die <04191>, the Nile <02975> will stink <0887>, and the Egyptians <04713> will be unable <03811> to drink <08354> water <04325> from <04480> the Nile <02975>.”’”
19Then the Lord <03068> said <0559> to <0413> Moses <04872>, “Tell <0559> Aaron <0175>, ‘Take <03947> your staff <04294> and stretch out <05186> your hand <03027> over <05921> Egypt’s <04714> waters <04325>– over <05921> their rivers <05104>, over <05921> their canals <02975>, over <05921> their ponds <098>, and over <05921> all <03605> their reservoirs <04325> <04723>– so that it becomes <01961> blood <01818>.’ There will be <01961> blood <01818> everywhere <03605> in the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>, even in wooden <06086> and stone <068> containers.”
20Moses <04872> and Aaron <0175> did <06213> so <03651>, just as <0834> the Lord <03068> had commanded <06680>. Moses raised <07311> the staff <04294> and struck <05221> the water <04325> that <0834> was in the Nile <02975> right before the eyes <05869> of Pharaoh <06547> and his servants <05650>, and all <03605> the water <04325> that <0834> was in the Nile <02975> was turned <02015> to blood <01818>.
21When the fish <01710> that <0834> were in the Nile <02975> died <04191>, the Nile <02975> began to stink <0887>, so that the Egyptians <04713> could <03201> not <03808> drink <08354> water <04325> from <04480> the Nile <02975>. There was <01961> blood <01818> everywhere <03605> in the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>!
22But the magicians <02748> of Egypt <04714> did <06213> the same <03651> by their secret arts <03909>, and so Pharaoh’s <06547> heart <03820> remained hard <02388>, and he refused <03808> to listen <08085> to <0413> Moses and Aaron– just as <0834> the Lord <03068> had predicted <01696>.
23And Pharaoh <06547> turned <06437> and went <0935> into <0413> his house <01004>. He did not <03808> pay <03820> <07896> any attention <03820> <07896> to this <02063>.
24All <03605> the Egyptians <04713> dug <02658> around <05439> the Nile <02975> for water <04325> to drink <08354>, because <03588> they could <03201> not <03808> drink <08354> the water <04325> of the Nile <02975>.
25Seven <07651> full <04390> days <03117> passed after <0310> the Lord <03068> struck <05221> the Nile <02975>.
