Now the word<1697> of the LORD<3068> came<1961> to Jehu<3058> the son<1121> of Hanani<2607> against<5921> Baasha<1201>, saying<559>,
"Inasmuch<3282><834> as I exalted<7311> you from the dust<6083> and made<5414> you leader<5057> over<5921> My people<5971> Israel<3478>, and you have walked<1980> in the way<1870> of Jeroboam<3379> and have made My people<5971> Israel<3478> sin<2398>, provoking<3707> Me to anger<3707> with their sins<2403>,
behold<2009>, I will consume<1197> Baasha<1201> and his house<1004>, and I will make<5414> your house<1004> like the house<1004> of Jeroboam<3379> the son<1121> of Nebat<5028>.
"Anyone of Baasha<1201> who dies<4191> in the city<5892> the dogs<3611> will eat<398>, and anyone of his who dies<4191> in the field<7704> the birds<5775> of the heavens<8064> will eat<398>."
Now the rest<3499> of the acts<1697> of Baasha<1201> and what<834> he did<6213> and his might<1369>, are they not written<3789> in the Book<5612> of the Chronicles<1697><3117> of the Kings<4428> of Israel<3478>?
And Baasha<1201> slept<7901> with his fathers<1> and was buried<6912> in Tirzah<8656>, and Elah<425> his son<1121> became<4427> king<4427> in his place<8478>.
Moreover<1571>, the word<1697> of the LORD<3068> through<3027> the prophet<5030> Jehu<3058> the son<1121> of Hanani<2607> also<1571> came<1961> against<413> Baasha<1201> and his household<1004>, both because<5921> of all<3605> the evil<7463> which<834> he did<6213> in the sight<5869> of the LORD<3068>, provoking<3707> Him to anger<3707> with the work<4639> of his hands<3027>, in being<1961> like the house<1004> of Jeroboam<3379>, and because<5921><834> he struck<5221> it.
In the twenty-sixth<6242><8337> year<8141> of Asa<609> king<4428> of Judah<3063>, Elah<425> the son<1121> of Baasha<1201> became<4427> king<4427> over<5921> Israel<3478> at Tirzah<8656>, and reigned two years<8141>.
His servant<5650> Zimri<2174>, commander<8269> of half<4276> his chariots<7393>, conspired<7194> against<5921> him. Now he was at Tirzah<8656> drinking<8354> himself drunk<7910> in the house<1004> of Arza<777>, who<834> was over<5921> the household<1004> at Tirzah<8656>.
Then Zimri<2174> went<935> in and struck<5221> him and put<4191> him to death<4191> in the twenty-seventh<6242><7651> year<8141> of Asa<609> king<4428> of Judah<3063>, and became<4427> king<4427> in his place<8478>.
It came<1961> about when he became<4427> king<4427>, as soon as he sat<3427> on his throne<3678>, that he killed<5221> all<3605> the household<1004> of Baasha<1201>; he did not leave<7604> a single male<8366><7023>, neither of his relatives<1350> nor of his friends<7453>.
Thus Zimri<2174> destroyed<8045> all<3605> the household<1004> of Baasha<1201>, according to the word<1697> of the LORD<3068>, which<834> He spoke<1696> against<413> Baasha<1201> through<3027> Jehu<3058> the prophet<5030>,
for all<3605> the sins<2403> of Baasha<1201> and the sins<2403> of Elah<425> his son<1121>, which<834> they sinned<2398> and which<834> they made Israel<3478> sin<2398>, provoking<3707> the LORD<3068> God<430> of Israel<3478> to anger<3707> with their idols<1892>.
Now the rest<3499> of the acts<1697> of Elah<425> and all<3605> that he did<6213>, are they not written<3789> in the Book<5612> of the Chronicles<1697><3117> of the Kings<4428> of Israel<3478>?
In the twenty-seventh<6242><7651> year<8141> of Asa<609> king<4428> of Judah<3063>, Zimri<2174> reigned<4427> seven<7651> days<3117> at Tirzah<8656>. Now the people<5971> were camped<2583> against<5921> Gibbethon<1405>, which<834> belonged to the Philistines<6430>.
The people<5971> who were camped<2583> heard<8085> it said<559>, "Zimri<2174> has conspired<7194> and has also<1571> struck<5221> down<5221> the king<4428>." Therefore all<3605> Israel<3478> made<4427> Omri<6018>, the commander<8269> of the army<6635>, king<4427> over<5921> Israel<3478> that day<3117> in the camp<4264>.
Then Omri<6018> and all<3605> Israel<3478> with him went<5927> up from Gibbethon<1405> and besieged<6696><5921> Tirzah<8656>.
When Zimri<2174> saw<7200> that the city<5892> was taken<3920>, he went<935> into the citadel<759> of the king's<4428> house<1004> and burned<8313> the king's<4428> house<1004> over<5921> him with fire<784>, and died<4191>,
because<5921> of his sins<2403> which<834> he sinned<2398>, doing<6213> evil<7451> in the sight<5869> of the LORD<3068>, walking<1980> in the way<1870> of Jeroboam<3379>, and in his sin<2403> which<834> he did<6213>, making Israel<3478> sin<2398>.
Now the rest<3499> of the acts<1697> of Zimri<2174> and his conspiracy<7195> which<834> he carried<7194> out, are they not written<3789> in the Book<5612> of the Chronicles<1697><3117> of the Kings<4428> of Israel<3478>?
Then<227> the people<5971> of Israel<3478> were divided<2505> into two<2677> parts<2677>: half<2677> of the people<5971> followed<1961><310> Tibni<8402> the son<1121> of Ginath<1527>, to make<4427> him king<4427>; the other half<2677> followed<310> Omri<6018>.
But the people<5971> who<834> followed<310> Omri<6018> prevailed<2388> over<2388> the people<5971> who<834> followed<310> Tibni<8402> the son<1121> of Ginath<1527>. And Tibni<8402> died<4191> and Omri<6018> became<4427> king<4427>.
In the thirty-first<7970><259> year<8141> of Asa<609> king<4428> of Judah<3063>, Omri<6018> became<4427> king<4427> over<5921> Israel<3478> and reigned twelve<8147><6240> years<8141>; he reigned<4427> six<8337> years<8141> at Tirzah<8656>.
He bought<7069> the hill<2022> Samaria<8111> from Shemer<8106> for two talents<3603> of silver<3701>; and he built<1129> on the hill<2022>, and named<7121><8034> the city<5892> which<834> he built<1129> Samaria<8111>, after<5921> the name<8034> of Shemer<8106>, the owner<113> of the hill<2022>.
Omri<6018> did<6213> evil<7451> in the sight<5869> of the LORD<3068>, and acted<7489> more<4480> wickedly<7489> than<4480> all<3605> who<834> were before<6440> him.
For he walked<1980> in all<3605> the way<1870> of Jeroboam<3379> the son<1121> of Nebat<5028> and in his sins<2403> which<834> he made Israel<3478> sin<2398>, provoking<3707> the LORD<3068> God<430> of Israel<3478> with their idols<1892>.
Now the rest<3499> of the acts<1697> of Omri<6018> which<834> he did<6213> and his might<1369> which<834> he showed<6213>, are they not written<3789> in the Book<5612> of the Chronicles<1697><3117> of the Kings<4428> of Israel<3478>?
So Omri<6018> slept<7901> with his fathers<1> and was buried<6912> in Samaria<8111>; and Ahab<256> his son<1121> became<4427> king<4427> in his place<8478>.
Now Ahab<256> the son<1121> of Omri<6018> became<4427> king<4427> over<5921> Israel<3478> in the thirty-eighth<7970><8083> year<8141> of Asa<609> king<4428> of Judah<3063>, and Ahab<256> the son<1121> of Omri<6018> reigned<4427> over<5921> Israel<3478> in Samaria<8111> twenty-two<6242><8147> years<8141>.
Ahab<256> the son<1121> of Omri<6018> did<6213> evil<7451> in the sight<5869> of the LORD<3068> more<4480> than<4480> all<3605> who<834> were before<6440> him.
It came<1961> about, as though it had been a trivial<7043> thing<7043> for him to walk<1980> in the sins<2403> of Jeroboam<3379> the son<1121> of Nebat<5028>, that he married<3947><802> Jezebel<348> the daughter<1323> of Ethbaal<856> king<4428> of the Sidonians<6722>, and went<1980> to serve<5647> Baal<1168> and worshiped<7812> him.
So he erected<6965> an altar<4196> for Baal<1168> in the house<1004> of Baal<1168> which<834> he built<1129> in Samaria<8111>.
Ahab<256> also made<6213> the Asherah<842>. Thus Ahab<256> did<6213> more<3254> to provoke<3707> the LORD<3068> God<430> of Israel<3478> than<4480> all<3605> the kings<4428> of Israel<3478> who<834> were before<6440> him.
In his days<3117> Hiel<2419> the Bethelite<1017> built<1129> Jericho<3405>; he laid<3245> its foundations<3245> with the loss of Abiram<48> his firstborn<1060>, and set<5324> up its gates<1817> with the loss of his youngest<6810> son Segub<7687>, according to the word<1697> of the LORD<3068>, which<834> He spoke<1696> by Joshua<3091> the son<1121> of Nun<5126>.
