2And when<3753> Peter<4074> came<305> up to Jerusalem<2419>, those<3588> who were circumcised<4061> took<1252> issue<1252> with him,
3saying<3004>, "You went<1525> to uncircumcised<203> men<435> and ate<4906> with them."
4But Peter<4074> began<757> speaking and proceeded to explain<1620> to them in orderly<2517> sequence<2517>, saying<3004>,
5"I was in the city<4172> of Joppa<2445> praying<4336>; and in a trance<1611> I saw<3708> a vision<3705>, an object<4632> coming<2597> down<2597> like<5613> a great<3173> sheet<3607> lowered<2524> by four<5064> corners<746> from the sky<3772>; and it came<2064> right<891> down to me,
6and when I had fixed<816> my gaze<816> on it and was observing<2657> it I saw<3708> the four-footed<5074> animals<5074> of the earth<1093> and the wild<2342> beasts<2342> and the crawling<2062> creatures<2062> and the birds<4071> of the air<3772>.
7"I also<2532> heard<191> a voice<5456> saying<3004> to me, 'Get<450> up, Peter<4074>; kill<2380> and eat<2068>.'
8"But I said<3004>, 'By no<3365> means<3365>, Lord<2962>, for nothing<3763> unholy<2839> or<2228> unclean<169> has ever<3763> entered<1525> my mouth<4750>.'
9"But a voice<5456> from heaven<3772> answered<611> a second<1208> time<1208>, 'What<3739> God<2316> has cleansed<2511>, no<3361> longer consider<2840> unholy<2839>.'
10"This<3778> happened<1096> three<5151> times<5151>, and everything<537> was drawn<385> back<3825> up into the sky<3772>.
11"And behold<2400>, at that moment<1824> three<5140> men<435> appeared<2186> at the house<3614> in which<3739> we were staying, having been sent<649> to me from Caesarea<2542>.
12"The Spirit<4151> told<3004> me to go<4905> with them without<3367> misgivings<1252>. These<3778> six<1803> brethren<80> also<2532> went<2064> with me and we entered<1525> the man's<435> house<3624>.

15"And as I began<757> to speak<2980>, the Holy<40> Spirit<4151> fell<1968> upon them just<5618> as He did upon us at the beginning<746>.
16"And I remembered<3403> the word<4487> of the Lord<2962>, how<5613> He used to say<3004>,
17"Therefore<3767> if<1487> God<2316> gave<1325> to them the same<2470> gift<1431> as He gave to us also<2532> after believing<4100> in the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424> Christ<5547>, who<5101> was I that I could<1415> stand<2967> in God's<2316> way<2967>?"
18When they heard<191> this<3778>, they quieted<2270> down<2270> and glorified<1392> God<2316>, saying<3004>, "Well<686> then<686>, God<2316> has granted<1325> to the Gentiles<1484> also<2532> the repentance<3341> that leads to life<2222>."
19So<3767> then<3767> those<3588> who were scattered<1289> because<575> of the persecution<2347> that occurred<1096> in connection<1909> with Stephen<4736> made<1330> their way<1330> to Phoenicia<5403> and Cyprus<2954> and Antioch<490>, speaking<2980> the word<3056> to no<3367> one<3367> except<1508> to Jews<2453> alone<3441>.
20But there were some<5100> of them, men<435> of Cyprus<2953> and Cyrene<2956>, who<3748> came<2064> to Antioch<490> and began speaking<2980> to the Greeks<1672> also<2532>, preaching<2097> the Lord<2962> Jesus<2424>.
21And the hand<5495> of the Lord<2962> was with them, and a large<4183> number<706> who believed<4100> turned<1994> to the Lord<2962>.
22The news<3056> about<4012> them reached<191> the ears<3775> of the church<1577> at Jerusalem<2419>, and they sent<1821> Barnabas<921> off<1821> to Antioch<490>.
23Then when he arrived<3854> and witnessed<3708> the grace<5485> of God<2316>, he rejoiced<5463> and began to encourage<3870> them all<3956> with resolute<4286> heart<2588> to remain<4357> true to the Lord<2962>;
24for he was a good<18> man<435>, and full<4134> of the Holy<40> Spirit<4151> and of faith<4102>. And considerable<2425> numbers<3793> were brought<4369> to the Lord<2962>.
25And he left<1831> for Tarsus<5019> to look<327> for Saul<4569>;
26and when he had found<2147> him, he brought<71> him to Antioch<490>. And for an entire<3650> year<1763> they met<4863> with the church<1577> and taught<1321> considerable<2425> numbers<3793>; and the disciples<3101> were first<4416> called<5537> Christians<5546> in Antioch<490>.
27Now<1161> at this<3778> time<2250> some prophets<4396> came<2718> down<2718> from Jerusalem<2414> to Antioch<490>.
28One<1520> of them named<3686> Agabus<13> stood<450> up and began to indicate<4591> by the Spirit<4151> that there would<3195> certainly<3195> be a great<3173> famine<3042> all<3650> over<1909> the world<3625>. And this<3748> took<1096> place<1096> in the reign of Claudius<2804>.
29And in the proportion<2531> that any<5100> of the disciples<3101> had<2141> means<2141>, each<1538> of them determined<3724> to send<3992> a contribution for the relief<1248> of the brethren<80> living<2730> in Judea<2453>.
30And this<3739> they did<4160>, sending<649> it in charge<1223><5495> of Barnabas<921> and Saul<4569> to the elders<4245>.
