3Do you <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> we will judge <2919> angels <32>? Why not <3385> ordinary matters <982>!
4So <3767> if <1437> you have <2192> ordinary lawsuits <982>, do you appoint as judges <2523> those <5128> who have no standing <1848> in <1722> the church <1577>?
5I say <3004> this to <4314> your <5213> shame <1791>! Is there no one <3762> among <1722> you <5213> wise <4680> enough to settle disputes <1252> between <3319> fellow Christians <80>?
6Instead <235>, does a Christian <80> sue <3326> a Christian <80>, and <2532> do <2919> this <5124> before <1909> unbelievers <571>?
7The fact that you have <2192> lawsuits <2917> among <3326> yourselves <1438> demonstrates that <3754> you <5213> have already <2235> been defeated <2275>. Why <5101> not <3780> rather <3123> be wronged <91>? Why <5101> not <3780> rather <3123> be cheated <650>?
8But <235> you <91> yourselves <5210> wrong <91> and <2532> cheat <650>, and <2532> you do this <5124> to your brothers and sisters <80>!
9Do you <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> the unrighteous <94> will <2816> not <3756> inherit <2816> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>? Do <4105> not <3361> be deceived <4105>! The sexually immoral <4205>, idolaters <1496>, adulterers <3432>, passive homosexual partners <3120>, practicing homosexuals <733>,
10thieves <2812>, the greedy <4123>, drunkards <3183>, the verbally abusive <3060>, and swindlers <727> will <2816> not <3756> inherit <2816> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>.
11Some <5100> of you once lived <1510> this way <5023>. But <235> you were washed <628>, you were sanctified <37>, you were justified <1344> in <1722> the name <3686> of the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> and <2532> by <1722> the Spirit <4151> of our <2257> God <2316>.
12“All things <3956> are lawful <1832> for me <3427>”– but <235> not <3756> everything <3956> is beneficial <4851>. “All things <3956> are lawful <1832> for me <3427>”– but <235> I will <1850> not <3756> be controlled <1850> by <5259> anything <5100>.
13“Food <1033> is for the stomach <2836> and <2532> the stomach <2836> is for food <1033>, but <1161> God <2316> will do away <2673> with both.” The body <4983> is not <3756> for sexual immorality <4202>, but <235> for the Lord <2962>, and <2532> the Lord <2962> for the <3588> body <4983>.
14Now <1161> God <2316> indeed raised <1453> the Lord <2962> and <2532> he will raise <1825> us <2248> by <1223> his <846> power <1411>.
15Do you <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> your <5216> bodies <4983> are <1510> members <3196> of Christ <5547>? Should I take <142> the members <3196> of Christ <5547> and make <4160> them members <3196> of a prostitute <4204>? Never <3361> <1096>!
16Or <2228> do you <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> anyone who is united <2853> with a prostitute <4204> is <1510> one <1520> body <4983> with her? For <1063> it is said <5346>, “The two <1417> will become <1510> one <1520> flesh <4561>.”
17But <1161> the one united <2853> with the Lord <2962> is <1510> one <1520> spirit <4151> with him.
18Flee <5343> sexual immorality <4202>! “Every <3956> sin <265> a person <444> commits <4160> is <1510> outside <1622> of the body <4983>”– but <1161> the immoral person <4203> sins <264> against <1519> his own <2398> body <4983>.
19Or <2228> do you <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> your <5216> body <4983> is the temple <3485> of the Holy <40> Spirit <4151> who is <1510> in <1722> you <5213>, whom <3739> you have <2192> from <575> God <2316>, and <2532> you are <1510> not <3756> your own <1438>?
20For <1063> you were bought <59> at <5092> a price. Therefore glorify <1392> God <2316> with <1722> your <5216> body <4983>.
