Solomon <08010> began <02490> building <01129> the Lord’s <03069> temple <01004> in Jerusalem <03389> on Mount <02022> Moriah <04179>, where <0834> the Lord had appeared <07200> to his father <01> David <01732>. This was the place <04725> that <0834> David <01732> prepared <03559> at the threshing floor <01637> of Ornan <0771> the Jebusite <02983>.
He began <02490> building <01129> on the second <08145> day of the second <08145> month <02320> of the fourth <0702> year <08141> of his reign <04438>.
Solomon <08010> laid <01129> the foundation <03245> for God’s <0430> temple <01004>; its length <0753> (determined according to the old <07223> standard <04060> <0520> of measure <04060> <0520>) was 90 feet <08346> <0520>, and its width <07341> 30 feet <06242> <0520>.
The porch <0197> in front <06440> of the main hall was 30 feet <06242> <0520> long <0753>, corresponding <06440> to the width <07341> of the temple <01004>, and its height <01363> was 30 feet <06242> <03967>. He plated <06823> the inside <06441> with pure <02889> gold <02091>.
He paneled <02645> the main hall <01004> with boards <01419> made from evergreen <01265> trees <06086> and plated <02645> it with fine <02896> gold <02091>, decorated <05927> with palm trees <08561> and chains <08333>.
He decorated <06823> the temple <01004> with precious <03368> stones <068>; the gold <02091> <02091> he used came from Parvaim <06516>.
He overlaid <02645> the temple’s <01004> rafters <06982>, thresholds <05592>, walls <07023> and doors <01817> with gold <02091>; he carved <06605> decorative cherubim <03742> on <05921> the walls <07023>.
He made <06213> the most holy place <06944> <06944>; its length <0753> was 30 feet <06242> <0520>, corresponding to <06440> <05921> the width <07341> of the temple <01004>, and its width <07341> 30 feet <06242> <0520>. He plated <02645> it with 600 <03967> <08337> talents <03603> of fine <02896> gold <02091>.
The gold <02091> nails <04548> weighed <04948> 50 <02572> shekels <08255>; he also plated <02645> the upper areas <05944> with gold <02091>.
In the most holy <06944> <06944> place <01004> he made <04639> two <08147> images <06816> of cherubim <03742> and plated <06823> them with gold <02091>.
The combined wing <03671> span of the cherubs <03742> was 30 feet <06242> <0520>. One <0259> of the first cherub’s wings <03671> was seven and one-half feet <02568> <0520> long <0753> and touched <05060> one wall <07023> of the temple <01004>; its other <0312> wing <03671> was also seven and one-half feet <02568> <0520> long and touched <05060> one of the second cherub’s <03742> wings <03671>.
Likewise one <0259> of the second cherub’s <03742> wings <03671> was seven and one-half feet <02568> <0520> long and touched <05060> the other wall <07023> of the temple <01004>; its other <0312> wing <03671> was also seven and one-half feet <02568> <0520> long and touched <01695> one of the first <0312> cherub’s <03742> wings <03671>.
The combined wingspan <06566> <03671> of these <0428> cherubim <03742> was 30 feet <06242> <0520>. They <01992> stood <05975> upright <07272>, facing <06440> inward <01004>.
He made <06213> the curtain <06532> out of violet <08504>, purple <0713>, crimson <03758>, and white fabrics <0948>, and embroidered <05927> on <05921> it decorative cherubim <03742>.
In front of <06440> the temple <01004> he made <06213> two <08147> pillars <05982> which <0834> had a combined length <0753> of 52½ feet <02568> <07970> <0520>, with each having a plated capital <06858> seven and one-half feet <02568> <0520> high.
He made <06213> ornamental chains <08333> and put <05414> them on <05921> top <07218> of the pillars <05982>. He also made <06213> one hundred <03967> pomegranate-shaped ornaments <07416> and arranged <05414> them within the chains <08333>.
He set up <06965> the <0853> pillars <05982> in <05921> front <06440> of the temple <01964>, one <0259> on the right side <03225> and the other <0259> on the left <08042>. He named <08034> <07121> the one on the right <03227> Jachin <03199>, and the one on the left <08040> Boaz <01162>.
