2Remember <02142> the whole <03605> way <01870> by which <0834> he <0430> <03068> has brought <01980> you these <02088> forty <0705> years <08141> through the desert <04057> so that <04616> he might, by humbling <06031> you, test <05254> you to see <03045> if <0834> you have it within <03824> you to keep <08104> his commandments <04687> or <0518> not <03808>.
3So he humbled <06031> you by making you hungry <07456> and then feeding <0398> you with unfamiliar <03045> <03808> manna <04478>. He did this to teach <03045> <04616> you that <03588> humankind <0120> cannot <03808> live <02421> by <05921> bread <03899> alone <0905>, but also <03588> by <05921> everything <03605> that comes <04161> from the Lord’s <03068> mouth <06310>.
4Your clothing <08071> did not <03808> wear out <01086> nor did your feet <07272> swell <01216> all these <02088> forty <0705> years <08141>.
5Be keenly <03824> <05973> aware <03045> that <03588> just as <0834> a parent <0376> disciplines <03256> his child <01121>, the Lord <03068> your God <0430> disciplines <03256> you.
6So you must keep <08104> his commandments <04687>, live <01980> according to his standards <01870>, and revere <03372> him.
7For <03588> the Lord <03068> your God <0430> is bringing <0935> you to <0413> a good <02896> land <0776>, a land <0776> of brooks <04325> <05158>, springs <08415>, and fountains <05869> flowing forth <03318> in valleys <01237> and hills <02022>,
8a land <0776> of wheat <02406>, barley <08184>, vines <01612>, fig trees <08384>, and pomegranates <07416>, of olive trees <02132> and honey <01706>,
9a land <0776> where <0834> you may eat <0398> food <03899> in plenty <04544> <03808> and find no <03808> lack <02637> of anything <03605>, a land <0776> whose <0834> stones <068> are iron <01270> and from whose hills <02042> you can mine <02672> copper <05178>.
10You will eat <0398> your fill <07646> and then praise <01288> the Lord <03068> your God <0430> because of <05921> the good <02896> land <0776> he has given <05414> you.
11Be sure <08104> you do not <06435> forget <07911> the Lord <03068> your God <0430> by not <01115> keeping <08104> his commandments <04687>, ordinances <04941>, and statutes <02708> that <0834> I <0595> am giving <06680> you today <03117>.
12When <06435> you eat <0398> your fill <07646>, when you build <01129> and occupy <03427> good <02896> houses <01004>,
13when your cattle <01241> and flocks <06629> increase <07235>, when you have plenty <07235> of silver <03701> and gold <02091>, and when <0834> you have abundance <07235> of everything <03605>,
14be sure you do not feel self-important <03824> <07311> and forget <07911> the Lord <03068> your God <0430> who brought <03318> you from the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>, the place <01004> of slavery <05650>,
15and who brought <01980> you through the great <01419>, fearful <03372> desert <04057> of venomous serpents <08314> <05175> and scorpions <06137>, an arid place <06774> with no <0369> water <04325>. He made water <04325> flow from a flint <02496> rock <06697> and
16fed <0398> you in the desert <04057> with manna <04478> (which <0834> your ancestors <01> had never <03808> before known <03045>) so that <04616> he might by humbling <06031> you test <05254> you and eventually <0319> bring good <03190> to you.
17Be careful not to say <0559>, “My own ability <03581> and skill <03027> <06108> have gotten <06213> me this <02088> wealth <02428>.”
18You must remember <02142> the Lord <03068> your God <0430>, for <03588> he <01931> is the one who gives <05414> ability <03581> to get wealth <02428>; if you do <06213> this he will confirm <06965> his covenant <01285> that <0834> he made <07650> by oath <07650> to your ancestors <01>, even as he has to this <02088> day <03117>.
19Now <01961> if <0518> you forget <07911> <07911> the Lord <03068> your God <0430> at all and follow <0310> <01980> other <0312> gods <0430>, worshiping <05647> and prostrating <07812> yourselves before them, I testify <05749> to you today <03117> that <03588> you will surely be annihilated <06> <06>.
20Just <0834> like the nations <01471> the Lord <03068> is about to destroy <06> <06> from your sight <06440>, so <03651> he will do to you because <06118> you would not <03808> obey <08085> him <0430> <03068> <06963>.
