TB: Ketika Eliab, kakaknya yang tertua, mendengar perkataan Daud kepada orang-orang itu, bangkitlah amarah Eliab kepada Daud sambil berkata: "Mengapa engkau datang? Dan pada siapakah kautinggalkan kambing domba yang dua tiga ekor itu di padang gurun? Aku kenal sifat pemberanimu dan kejahatan hatimu: engkau datang ke mari dengan maksud melihat pertempuran."


AYT: Eliab, kakaknya yang tertua, mendengar perkataannya kepada orang-orang itu sehingga bangkitlah amarah Eliab terhadap Daud. Katanya, "Mengapa engkau datang kemari? Pada siapakah kautinggalkan dua tiga ekor kambing domba itu di padang belantara? Aku tahu keangkuhan dan kejahatan hatimu, sebab maksudmu datang adalah untuk melihat pertempuran.

TL: Maka terdengarlah Eliab, abangnya yang sulung itu, akan barang yang dikatakannya kepada orang itu, maka sebab itu berbangkitlah amarah Eliab akan Daud, serta katanya: Mengapa sekarang engkau ke mari, dan kepada siapa kautinggalkan segala kambing di padang, jikalau sejurus lamanya sekalipun. Bahwa aku mengetahui akan keberanianmu dan niatmu yang jahat! Adapun engkau ke mari ini hendak melihat perang jua.

MILT: Dan Eliab, kakaknya yang tertua, mendengar ketika dia berbicara kepada orang-orang itu. Lalu kemarahan Eliab menyala-nyala terhadap Daud. Dan dia berkata, "Mengapa engkau datang ke sini? VMD: Ketika saudara Daud yang tertua Eliab mendengar Daud bercakap-cakap dengan anggota pasukan, bangkitlah amarahnya. Ia berkata kepada Daud, “Mengapa engkau kemari? Dan kepada siapa engkau percayakan penggembalaan domba-domba itu di padang gurun? Aku tahu mengapa engkau datang kemari. Engkau tidak suka melaksanakan yang diperintahkan kepadamu. Engkau mau hanya datang kemari untuk menyaksikan perang.”

FAYH: Tetapi, ketika Eliab, kakak Daud yang tertua, mendengar adiknya berkata demikian, ia menjadi marah. "Apakah kerjamu di sini?" tegornya. "Bagaimana dengan kambing domba di padang gurun yang menjadi tanggung jawabmu? Aku tahu ulahmu, engkau anak nakal yang sombong! Engkau datang hanya karena ingin menyaksikan pertempuran!"

ENDE: Eliab, kakaknja jang sulung, mendengar ia berbitjara dengan orang2 itu. Maka Eliab marah2 kepada Dawud dan berkatalah ia: "Untuk apa sebetulnja engkau turun kemari? Dan kepada siapakah telah kauserahkan domba2 seberapa itu dipadang gurun? Aku tahu gegabahmu dan hatimu jang durdjana: engkau turun kemari untuk melihat pertempuran!"

Shellabear 1912: Maka terdengarlah kepada Eliab, abangnya, yang tua itu tatkala ia berkata-kata dengan orang itu maka bernyalalah marah Eliab akan Daud maka katanya: "Mengapakah engkau telah datang kemari dan kepada siapakah engkau tinggalkan domba-domba yang sedikit di tanah belantara itu. Aku tahu akan congkakmu dan akan kejahatan hatimu karena engkau telah datang hendak melihat peperangan ini."

NETBible: When David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, he became angry with David and said, “Why have you come down here? To whom did you entrust those few sheep in the desert? I am familiar with your pride and deceit! You have come down here to watch the battle!”
