Dual Panel1Now Moses <04872> was <01961> shepherding <07462> the flock <06629> of his father-in-law <02859> Jethro <03503>, the priest <03548> of Midian <04080>, and he led <05090> the flock <06629> to the far side <0310> of the desert <04057> and came <0935> to <0413> the mountain <02022> of God <0430>, to Horeb <02722>.
2The angel <04397> of the Lord <03068> appeared <07200> to <0413> him in a flame <03827> of fire <0784> from within <08432> a bush <05572>. He looked <07200>– and the bush <05572> was ablaze <01197> with fire <0784>, but it was not <0369> being consumed <0398>!
3So Moses <04872> thought <0559>, “I will turn aside <05493> to see <07200> this <02088> amazing <01419> sight <04758>. Why <04069> does the bush <05572> not <03808> burn up <01197>?”
4When the Lord <03068> saw <07200> that <03588> he had turned aside <05493> to look <07200>, God <0430> called <07121> to <0413> him from within <08432> the bush <05572> and said <0559>, “Moses, Moses <04872>!” And Moses <04872> said <0559>, “Here <02009> I am.”
5God said <0559>, “Do not <0408> approach <07126> any closer <01988>! Take <05394> your sandals <05275> off <05394> your feet <07272>, for <03588> the place <04725> where <0834> you <0859> are standing <05975> is holy <06944> ground <0127>.”
6He added <0559>, “I <0595> am the God <0430> of your father <01>, the God <0430> of Abraham <085>, the God <0430> of Isaac <03327>, and the God <0430> of Jacob <03290>.” Then Moses <04872> hid <05641> his face <06440>, because <03588> he was afraid <03372> to look <05027> at <0413> God <0430>.
7The Lord <03068> said <0559>, “I have surely seen <07200> <07200> the affliction <06040> of my people <05971> who <0834> are in Egypt <04714>. I have heard <08085> their cry <06818> because <06440> of their taskmasters <05065>, for <03588> I know <03045> their sorrows <04341>.
8I have come down <03381> to deliver <05337> them from the hand <03027> of the Egyptians <04713> and to bring <05927> them <01931> up <05927> from <04480> that land <0776> to <0413> a land <0776> that is both good <02896> and spacious <07342>, to <0413> a land <0776> flowing <02100> with milk <02461> and honey <01706>, to <0413> the region <04725> of the Canaanites <03669>, Hittites <02850>, Amorites <0567>, Perizzites <06522>, Hivites <02340>, and Jebusites <02983>.
9And now <06258> indeed <02009> the cry <06818> of the Israelites <03478> <01121> has come <0935> to <0413> me, and I have also <01571> seen <07200> how <0834> severely <03906> the Egyptians <04713> oppress <03905> them.
10So now <06258> go <01980>, and I will send <07971> you to <0413> Pharaoh <06547> to bring <03318> my people <05971>, the Israelites <03478> <01121>, out <03318> of Egypt <04714>.”
11Moses <04872> said <0559> to <0413> God <0430>, “Who <04310> am I <0595>, that <03588> I should go <01980> to <0413> Pharaoh <06547>, or that <03588> I should bring <03318> the Israelites <03478> <01121> out <03318> of Egypt <04714>?”
12He replied <0559>, “Surely <03588> I will be <01961> with <05973> you, and this <02088> will be the sign <0226> to you that <03588> I <0595> have sent <07971> you: When you bring <03318> the people <05971> out <03318> of Egypt <04714>, you and they will serve <05647> God <0430> on <05921> this <02088> mountain <02022>.”
13Moses <04872> said <0559> to <0413> God <0430>, “If <02009> I <0595> go <0935> to <0413> the Israelites <03478> <01121> and tell <0559> them, ‘The God <0430> of your fathers <01> has sent <07971> me to <0413> you,’ and they ask <0559> me, ‘What <04100> is his name <08034>?’– what <04100> should I say <0559> to <0413> them?”
14God <0430> said <0559> to <0413> Moses <04872>, “I am <01961> that <0834> I am <01961>.” And he said <0559>, “You must say <0559> this <03541> to the Israelites <03478> <01121>, ‘I am <01961> has sent <07971> me to <0413> you.’”
15God <0430> also <05750> said <0559> to <0413> Moses <04872>, “You must say <0559> this <03541> to <0413> the Israelites <03478> <01121>, ‘The Lord <03068>– the God <0430> of your fathers <01>, the God <0430> of Abraham <085>, the God <0430> of Isaac <03327>, and the God <0430> of Jacob <03290>– has sent <07971> me to <0413> you. This <02088> is my name <08034> forever <05769>, and this <02088> is my memorial <02143> from generation <01755> to generation <01755>.’
16“Go <01980> and bring together <0622> the elders <02205> of Israel <03478> and tell <0559> them, ‘The Lord <03068>, the God <0430> of your fathers <01>, appeared <07200> to <0413> me– the God <0430> of Abraham <085>, Isaac <03327>, and Jacob <03290>– saying <0559>, “I have attended <06485> carefully <06485> to you and to what has been done <06213> to you in Egypt <04714>,
17and I have promised <0559> that I will bring <05927> you up <05927> out of the affliction <06040> of Egypt <04714> to <0413> the land <0776> of the Canaanites <03669>, Hittites <02850>, Amorites <0567>, Perizzites <06522>, Hivites <02340>, and Jebusites <02983>, to <0413> a land <0776> flowing <02100> with milk <02461> and honey <01706>.”’
18“The elders will listen <06963> <08085> to you, and then you <0859> and the elders <02205> of Israel <03478> must go <0935> to <0413> the king <04428> of Egypt <04714> and tell <0559> him, ‘The Lord <03068>, the God <0430> of the Hebrews <05680>, has met <07136> with us. So now <06258>, let <04994> us go <01980> three <07969> days <03117>’ journey <01870> into the wilderness <04057>, so that we may sacrifice <02076> to the Lord <03068> our God <0430>.’
19But I <0589> know <03045> that <03588> the king <04428> of Egypt <04714> will not <03808> let <05414> you go <01980>, not <03808> even under force <02389> <03027>.
20So I will extend <07971> my hand <03027> and strike <05221> Egypt <04713> with all <03605> my wonders <06381> that <0834> I will do <06213> among <07130> them, and after <0310> that <03651> he will release <07971> you.
21“I will grant <05414> this <02088> people <05971> favor <05869> <02580> with the Egyptians <04713>, so that <03588> when <01961> you depart <01980> you will not <03808> leave <01980> empty-handed <07387>.
22Every woman <0802> will ask <07592> her neighbor <07934> and the one who happens to be staying <01481> in her house <01004> for items <03627> of silver <03701> and gold <02091> and for clothing <08071>. You will put <07760> these articles <03627> on <05921> your sons <01121> and daughters <01323>– thus you will plunder <05337> Egypt <04713>!”
