2Simon <4613> Peter <4074>, Thomas <2381> (called <3004> Didymus <1324>), Nathanael <3482> (who was from <575> Cana <2580> in Galilee <1056>), the sons of Zebedee <2199>, and <2532> two <1417> other <243> disciples <3101> of his <846> were <1510> together <3674>.
3Simon <4613> Peter <4074> told <3004> them <846>, “I am going <5217> fishing <232>.” “We will go <2064> with <4862> you <4671>,” they replied <3004>. They went out <1831> and <2532> got <1684> into <1519> the boat <4143>, but <2532> that <1565> night <3571> they caught <4084> nothing <3762>.
4When <1096> it was <1096> already <2235> very early morning <4405>, Jesus <2424> stood <2476> on <1519> the beach <123>, but <3305> the disciples <3101> did <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> it was <1510> Jesus <2424>.
5So <3767> Jesus <2424> said <3004> to them <846>, “Children <3813>, you <2192> don’t <3361> have <2192> any <5100> fish <4371>, do you?” They replied <611>, “No <3756>.”
6He told <2036> them <846>, “Throw <906> your net on the right <1188> side <3313> of the boat <4143>, and <2532> you will find <2147> some.” So <3767> they threw <906> the net <1350>, and <2532> were <2480> not <3765> able <2480> to pull <1670> it in because of the large number <4128> of fish <2486>.
7Then <3767> the disciple <3101> whom <3739> Jesus <2424> loved <25> said <3004> to Peter <4074>, “It is <1510> the Lord <2962>!” So <3767> Simon <4613> Peter <4074>, when <191> he heard <191> that <3754> it was <1510> the Lord <2962>, tucked <1241> in his outer garment <1903> (for <1063> he had <1510> nothing on underneath <1131> it), and <2532> plunged <906> into <1519> the sea <2281>.
8Meanwhile the other <243> disciples <3101> came <2064> with the boat <4142>, dragging <4951> the net <1350> full of fish <2486>, for <1063> they were <1510> not <3756> far <3112> from <575> land <1093>, only <235> about <5613> a hundred yards <4083> <1250>.
9When <5613> they got out <576> on <1519> the beach <1093>, they saw <991> a charcoal fire <439> ready <2749> with <2532> a fish <3795> placed <1945> on it, and <2532> bread <740>.
10Jesus <2424> said <3004>, “Bring <5342> some of <575> the fish <3795> you have just <4084> now <3568> caught <4084>.”
11So <3767> Simon <4613> Peter <4074> went aboard <305> and <2532> pulled <1670> the net <1350> to <1519> shore <1093>. It was full <3324> of <2486> large <3173> fish <2486>, one hundred <1540> fifty-three <4004> <5140>, but <2532> although there were <1510> so many <5118>, the net <1350> was <4977> not <3756> torn <4977>.
12“Come <1205>, have breakfast <709>,” Jesus <2424> said <3004>. But none <3762> of the disciples <3101> dared <5111> to ask <1833> him <846>, “Who <5101> are you <1510>?” because <3754> they knew <1492> it was <1510> the Lord <2962>.
13Jesus <2424> came <2064> and <2532> took <2983> the bread <740> and <2532> gave <1325> it to them <846>, and <2532> did the same <3668> with the fish <3795>.
14This <5124> was now <2235> the third time <5154> Jesus <2424> was revealed <5319> to the disciples <3101> after <1453> he was raised <1453> from <1537> the dead <3498>.
15Then <3767> when <3753> they had finished breakfast <709>, Jesus <2424> said <3004> to Simon <4613> Peter <4074>, “Simon <4613>, son of John <2491>, do you love <25> me <3165> more than <4119> these <5130> do?” He replied <3004>, “Yes <3483>, Lord <2962>, you <4771> know <1492> I love <5368> you <4571>.” Jesus told <3004> him <846>, “Feed <1006> my <3450> lambs <721>.”
16Jesus said <3004> a second time <1208>, “Simon <4613>, son of John <2491>, do you love <25> me <3165>?” He replied <3004>, “Yes <3483>, Lord <2962>, you <4771> know <1492> I love <5368> you <4571>.” Jesus told <3004> him <846>, “Shepherd <4165> my <3450> sheep <4263>.”
17Jesus said <3004> a third time <5154>, “Simon <4613>, son of John <2491>, do you love <5368> me <3165>?” Peter <4074> was distressed <3076> that <3754> Jesus asked <2036> him <846> a third time <5154>, “Do you love <5368> me <3165>?” and <2532> said <2036>, “Lord <2962>, you <4771> know <1492> everything <3956>. You <4771> know <1097> that <3754> I love <5368> you <4571>.” Jesus <2424> replied <3004>, “Feed <1006> my <3450> sheep <4263>.
18I tell <3004> you <4671> the solemn truth <281> <281>, when <3753> you were <1510> young <3501>, you tied <2224> your <4572> clothes around <2224> you and <2532> went <4043> wherever <3699> you wanted <2309>, but <1161> when <3752> you are old <1095>, you will stretch out <1614> your <4675> hands <5495>, and <2532> others <243> will tie <2224> you <4571> up <2224> and <2532> bring <5342> you where <3699> you do <2309> not <3756> want <2309> to go.”
19(Now <1161> Jesus said <2036> this <5124> to indicate clearly <4591> by what kind <4169> of death <2288> Peter was going to glorify <1392> God <2316>.) After <2036> he said <2036> this <5124>, Jesus told <3004> Peter <846>, “Follow <190> me <3427>.”
20Peter <4074> turned around <1994> and saw <991> the disciple <3101> whom <3739> Jesus <2424> loved <25> following <190> them. (This was the disciple who <3739> had leaned back <377> against <1909> Jesus’ chest <4738> at <1722> the meal <1173> and <2532> asked <2036>, “Lord <2962>, who <5101> is <1510> the one who is going to betray <3860> you <4571>?”)
21So <3767> when Peter <4074> saw <1492> him <5126>, he asked <3004> Jesus <2424>, “Lord <2962>, what <5101> about him <3778>?”
22Jesus <2424> replied <3004>, “If <1437> I want <2309> him <846> to live <3306> until <2193> I come back <2064>, what <5101> concern is that of yours <4314> <4571>? You <4771> follow <190> me <3427>!”
23So <3767> the saying <3056> circulated <1831> among <1519> the brothers and sisters <80> that <3754> this <1565> disciple <3101> was <599> not <3756> going to die <599>. But <1161> Jesus <2424> did <2036> not <3756> say <2036> to him <846> that <3754> he was <599> not <3756> going to die <599>, but rather <235>, “If <1437> I want <2309> him <846> to live <3306> until <2193> I come back <2064>, what concern is that of yours <5101> <4314> <4571>?”
24This <3778> is <1510> the disciple <3101> who testifies <3140> about <4012> these things <5130> and <2532> has written <1125> these things <5023>, and <2532> we know <1492> that <3754> his <846> testimony <3141> is <1510> true <227>.
25There are <1510> many <4183> other things <243> that <3739> Jesus <2424> did <4160>. If <1437> every <2596> one <1520> of them <846> were written down <1125>, I suppose <3633> the whole world <2889> would <5562> not <3761> have room <5562> for the books <975> that would be written <1125>.
