2not <3361> to be <4531> easily <5030> shaken <4531> from <575> your composure <3563> or <3366> disturbed <2360> by <1223> any kind of spirit <4151> or <3383> message <3056> or <3383> letter <1992> allegedly from <1223> us <2257>, to the effect that <3754> the day <2250> of the Lord <2962> is already here <1764>.
3Let <1818> no <3361> one <5100> deceive <1818> you <5209> in <2596> any <3367> way <5158>. For <3754> that day will <2064> not <3361> arrive <2064> until the rebellion <646> comes and <2532> the man <444> of lawlessness <458> is revealed <601>, the son <5207> of destruction <684>.
4He opposes <480> and <2532> exalts <5229> himself above <1909> every <3956> so-called <3004> god <2316> or <2228> object of worship <4574>, and as a result <5620> he takes <2523> his <846> seat <2523> in <1519> God’s <2316> temple <3485>, displaying <584> himself <1438> as <3754> <1510> God <2316>.
5Surely you recall <3421> that <3754> I used to tell <3004> you <5213> these things <5023> while I <1510> was still <2089> with <4314> you <5209>.
6And <2532> so <3568> you know <1492> what holds <2722> him back, so that <1519> he will be revealed <601> in <1722> his own <846> time <2540>.
7For <1063> the hidden <3466> power of lawlessness <458> is already <2235> at work <1754>. However <3440>, the one who holds <2722> him back will do so until <2193> he is taken out of the way,
8and <2532> then <5119> the lawless one <459> will be revealed <601>, whom <3739> the Lord <2962> will destroy <337> by the breath <4151> of his <846> mouth <4750> and <2532> wipe out <2673> by the manifestation <2015> of his <846> arrival <3952>.
9The arrival <3952> of the lawless one <3739> will be <1510> by <2596> Satan’s <4567> working <1753> with <1722> all kinds <3956> of miracles <1411> and <2532> signs <4592> and <2532> false <5579> wonders <5059>,
10and <2532> with <1722> every kind <3956> of evil <93> deception <539> directed against those who are perishing <622>, because <473> they found <1209> no <3756> place in <1209> their hearts <1209> for the truth <225> so as to be saved <4982>.
11Consequently <2532> <1223> God <2316> sends <3992> on them <846> a deluding <4106> influence <1753> so that <1519> they <846> will believe <4100> what is false <5579>.
12And so <2443> all of them <3956> who have <4100> not <3361> believed <4100> the truth <225> but <235> have delighted <2106> in evil <93> will be condemned <2919>.
13But <1161> we <2249> ought <3784> to thank <2168> God <2316> always <3842> for <4012> you <5216>, brothers and sisters <80> loved <25> by <5259> the Lord <2962>, because <3754> God <2316> chose <138> you <5209> from <575> the beginning <746> for <1519> salvation <4991> through <1722> sanctification <38> by <4151> the Spirit <4151> and <2532> faith <4102> in <225> the truth <225>.
14He called <2564> you <5209> to this salvation through <1223> our <2257> gospel <2098>, so that <1519> you may possess <4047> the glory <1391> of our <2257> Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.
15Therefore <686> <3767>, brothers and sisters <80>, stand firm <4739> and <2532> hold on <2902> to the traditions <3862> that <3739> we <2257> taught <1321> you, whether <1535> by <1223> speech <3056> or <1535> by <1223> letter <1992>.
16Now <1161> may our <2257> Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> himself <846> and <2532> God <2316> our <2257> Father <3962>, who loved <25> us <2248> and <2532> by <1722> grace <5485> gave <1325> us eternal <166> comfort <3874> and <2532> good <18> hope <1680>,
17encourage <3870> your <5216> hearts <2588> and <2532> strengthen <4741> you in <1722> every <3956> good thing <18> you do <2041> or <2532> say <3056>.
