2And <2532> I saw <3708> the holy <40> city <4172>– the new <2537> Jerusalem <2419>– descending <2597> out of <1537> heaven <3772> from <575> God <2316>, made ready <2090> like <5613> a bride <3565> adorned <2885> for her <846> husband <435>.
3And <2532> I heard <191> a loud <3173> voice <5456> from <1537> the <3588> throne <2362> saying <3004>: “Look <2400>! The residence <4633> of God <2316> is among <3326> human beings <444>. He will live <4637> among <3326> them <846>, and <2532> they will be <1510> his <846> people <2992>, and <2532> God <2316> himself <846> will be <1510> with <3326> them <846>.
4He will wipe away <1813> every <3956> tear <1144> from <1537> their <846> eyes <3788>, and <2532> death <2288> will <1510> not <3756> exist <1510> any more <2089>– or <3777> mourning <3997>, or <3777> crying <2906>, or <3777> pain <4192>, for the former things <4413> have ceased <3756> to exist <1510>.”
5And <2532> the one seated <2521> on <1909> the throne <2362> said <2036>: “Look <2400>! I am making <4160> all things <3956> new <2537>!” Then <2532> he said <3004> to me, “Write <1125> it down <1125>, because <3754> these <3778> words <3056> are <1510> reliable <4103> and <2532> true <228>.”
6He <2036> also <2532> said <2036> to me <3427>, “It is done <1096>! I <1473> am the Alpha <1> and <2532> the Omega <5598>, the beginning <746> and <2532> the end <5056>. To the one who is thirsty <1372> I <1473> will give <1325> water free of charge <1432> from <1537> the spring <4077> of the water <5204> of life <2222>.
7The one who conquers <3528> will inherit <2816> these things <3778>, and <2532> I will be <1510> his <846> God <2316> and <2532> he <846> will be <1510> my <3427> son <5207>.
8But <1161> to the cowards <1169>, unbelievers <571>, detestable persons <948>, murderers <5406>, the sexually immoral <4205>, and <2532> those who practice magic spells <5333>, idol worshipers <1496>, and <2532> all <3956> those who lie, their place will be in <1722> the lake <3041> that burns <2545> with fire <4442> and <2532> sulfur <2303>. That is <1510> the second <1208> death <2288>.”
9Then <2532> one <1520> of the seven <2033> angels <32> who had <2192> the seven <2033> bowls <5357> full <1073> of the seven <2033> final <2078> plagues <4127> came <2064> and <2532> spoke <2980> to me <1700>, saying <3004>, “Come <1204>, I will show <1166> you <4671> the bride <3565>, the wife <1135> of the Lamb <721>!”
10So <2532> he took <667> me <3165> away <667> in <1722> the Spirit <4151> to <1909> a huge <3173>, majestic <5308> mountain <3735> and <2532> showed <1166> me <3427> the holy <40> city <4172>, Jerusalem <2419>, descending <2597> out <1537> of heaven <3772> from <575> God <2316>.
11The city possesses <2192> the glory <1391> of God <2316>; its <846> brilliance <5458> is like <3664> a precious <5093> jewel <3037>, like <5613> a stone <3037> of crystal-clear <2929> jasper <2393>.
12It has <2192> a massive <3173>, high <5308> wall <5038> with <2192> twelve <1427> gates <4440>, with twelve <1427> angels <32> at <1909> the gates <4440>, and <2532> the names <3686> of the twelve <1427> tribes <5443> of the nation <5207> of Israel <2474> are <1510> written on <1924> the gates.
13There are three <5140> gates <4440> on <575> the east side <395>, three <5140> gates <4440> on <575> the north side <1005>, three <5140> gates <4440> on <2532> the south side <3558> and <2532> three <5140> gates <4440> on <575> the west side <1424>.
14The wall <5038> of the city <4172> has <2192> twelve <1427> foundations <2310>, and <2532> on <1909> them <846> are the twelve <1427> names <3686> of the twelve <1427> apostles <652> of the Lamb <721>.
15The angel who spoke <2980> to <3326> me <1700> had <2192> a golden <5552> measuring <3358> rod <2563> with which to <2443> measure <3354> the city <4172> and <2532> its <846> foundation <4440> stones and <2532> wall <5038>.
16Now <2532> the city <4172> is laid out <2749> as a square <5068>, its <846> length <3372> and width <4114> the same. He <2532> measured <3354> the city <4172> with the measuring rod <2563> at <1909> fourteen hundred miles <4712> <1427> <5505> (its <846> length <3372> and <2532> width <4114> and <2532> height <5311> are <1510> equal <2470>).
17He <3354> also <2532> measured <3354> its <846> wall <5038>, one hundred <1540> forty-four <5062> <5064> cubits <4083> according to human <444> measurement <3358>, which <3739> is <1510> also the angel’s <32>.
18The city’s wall <5038> is made <1739> of jasper <2393> and <2532> the city <4172> is pure <2513> gold <5553>, like <3664> transparent <2513> glass <5194>.
19The foundations <2310> of the city’s <4172> wall <5038> are decorated <2885> with every kind <3956> of precious <5093> stone <3037>. The first <4413> foundation <2310> is jasper <2393>, the second <1208> sapphire <4552>, the third <5154> agate <5472>, the fourth <5067> emerald <4665>,
20the fifth <3991> onyx <4557>, the sixth <1623> carnelian <4556>, the seventh <1442> chrysolite <5555>, the eighth <3590> beryl <969>, the ninth <1766> topaz <5116>, the tenth <1182> chrysoprase <5556>, the eleventh <1734> jacinth <5192>, and the twelfth <1428> amethyst <271>.
21And <2532> the twelve <1427> gates <4440> are twelve <1427> pearls <3135>– each <1538> one <1520> of the gates <4440> is <1510> made from <1537> just one <1520> pearl <3135>! The main street <4113> of the city <4172> is pure <2513> gold <5553>, like <5613> transparent <1307> glass <5194>.
22Now <2532> I saw <1492> no <3756> temple <3485> in <1722> the city <846>, because <1063> the Lord <2962> God <2316>– the All-Powerful <3841>– and <2532> the Lamb <721> are <1510> its <846> temple <3485>.
23The city <4172> does <2192> not <3756> need <2192> need <5532> the sun <2246> or <3761> the moon <4582> to <2443> shine <5316> on it <846>, because <1063> the glory <1391> of God <2316> lights <5461> it <846> up <5461>, and <2532> its <846> lamp <3088> is the Lamb <721>.
24The nations <1484> will walk <4043> by <1223> its <846> light <5457> and <2532> the kings <935> of the earth <1093> will bring <5342> their <846> grandeur <1391> into <1519> it <846>.
25Its <846> gates <4440> will <2808> never <3756> <3361> be closed <2808> during the day <2250> (and there will be <1510> no <3756> night <3571> there <1563>).
26They will bring <5342> the grandeur <1391> and <2532> the wealth <5092> of the nations <1484> into <1519> it <846>,
27but <2532> nothing <3756> <3361> ritually unclean <2839> will ever enter <1525> into <1519> it <846>, nor <2532> anyone <3956> who does <4160> what is detestable <946> or <2532> practices falsehood <5579>, but <1487> <3361> only those whose names are written <1125> in <1722> the Lamb’s <721> book <975> of life <2222>.
