From Paul <3972>, an apostle <652> of Christ <5547> Jesus <2424> by <1223> the will <2307> of God <2316>, and <2532> Timothy <5095> our brother <80>, to the church <1577> of God <2316> that is <1510> in <1722> Corinth <2882>, with <4862> all <3956> the saints <40> who are <1510> in <1722> all <3650> Achaia <882>.
Grace <5485> and <2532> peace <1515> to you <5213> from <575> God <2316> our <2257> Father <3962> and <2532> the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>!
Blessed <2128> is the <2532> God <2316> and Father <3962> of our <2257> Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, the Father <3962> of mercies <3628> and <2532> God <2316> of all <3956> comfort <3874>,
who comforts <3870> us <2248> in <1909> all <3956> our <2257> troubles <2347> so that <1519> we <2248> may be able <1410> to comfort <3870> those experiencing any <1722> <3956> trouble <2347> with <1223> the comfort <3874> with which <3739> we <3870> ourselves <846> are comforted <3870> by <5259> God <2316>.
For <3754> just as <2531> the sufferings <3804> of Christ <5547> overflow <4052> toward <1519> us <2248>, so <3779> also <2532> our <2257> comfort <3874> through <1223> Christ <5547> overflows <4052> to you.
But <1161> if <1535> we are afflicted <2346>, it is for <5228> your <5216> comfort <3874> and <2532> salvation <4991>; if <1535> we are comforted <3870>, it is for <5228> your <5216> comfort <3874> that you experience <1754> in <1722> your patient <5281> endurance of the same <846> sufferings <3804> that <3739> we <2249> also suffer <3958>.
And our hope for you is steadfast because we know <1492> that <3754> as <5613> you <1510> share <2844> in our sufferings <3804>, so <3779> also <2532> you will share in our comfort <3874>.
For <1063> we do <2309> not <3756> want <2309> you <5209> to be unaware <50>, brothers and sisters <80>, regarding <5228> the affliction <2347> that happened <1096> to us <2257> in <1722> the province of Asia <773>, that <3754> we were burdened <916> excessively <5236>, beyond <5228> our strength <1411>, so <5620> that we <2248> despaired <1820> even <2532> of living <2198>.
Indeed <235> we felt as if the sentence <610> of death <2288> had been passed against <2192> us, so that <2443> we <1510> would <3982> not <3361> trust <3982> in <1909> ourselves <1438> but <235> in <1909> God <2316> who raises <1453> the dead <3498>.
He delivered <4506> us <2248> from <1537> so great a risk <5082> of death <2288>, and <2532> he will deliver <4506> us. We have set <1679> our hope <1679> on <1519> him <3739> that <3754> he will deliver <4506> us yet again <2089>,
as <4943> you <5216> also <2532> join in helping <4943> us <2257> by prayer <1162>, so that <2443> many <4183> people <4383> may give thanks to <2168> God <4183> on <5228> our <2257> behalf for the gracious gift <5486> given to us <2248> through <1223> the help of many <4183>.
For <1063> our <2257> reason for confidence <2746> is <1510> this <3778>: the testimony <3142> of our <2257> conscience <4893>, that <3754> with <1722> pure motives <41> and <2532> sincerity <1505> which are from God <2316>– not <3756> by <1722> human <4559> wisdom <4678> but <235> by <1722> the grace <5485> of God <2316>– we conducted <390> ourselves in <1722> the world <2889>, and <1161> all the more <4056> toward <4314> you <5209>.
For <1063> we do <1125> not <3756> write <1125> you <5213> anything <235> other <243> than <2228> what <3739> you can read <314> and <2532> also understand <1921>. But <1161> I hope <1679> that <3754> you will understand <1921> completely <2193> <5056>
just as <2531> also <2532> you have partly understood <1921> us <2248>, that <3754> we <1510> are your <5216> source of pride <2745> just as <2509> you <5210> also <2532> are ours <2257> in <1722> the day <2250> of the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424>.
And <2532> with this <3778> confidence <4006> I intended <4386> to come <2064> to <4314> you <5209> first so that <2443> you would get <2192> a second <1208> opportunity <5479> to see us,
and <2532> through <1223> your <5216> help to go on <1330> into <1519> Macedonia <3109> and <2532> then <3825> from <575> Macedonia <3109> to come back <2064> to <4314> you <5209> and <2532> be helped on <4311> our way <4311> into <1519> Judea <2449> by <5259> you <5216>.
Therefore <3767> when <1014> I was planning to do <1014> this <5124>, I did not do so without thinking <1644> about what I <1644> was doing <5530>, did I? Or <2228> do I make my plans <1011> according to <2596> mere human <4561> standards <1011> so that <2443> I would be saying both “Yes <3483>, yes <3483>” and <2532> “No <3756>, no <3756>” at the same time?
But <1161> as God <2316> is faithful <4103>, our <2257> message <3056> to <4314> you <5209> is <1510> not <3756> “Yes <3483>” and <2532> “No <3756>.”
For <1063> the Son <5207> of God <2316>, Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, the one who was proclaimed <2784> among <1722> you <5213> by <1223> us <2257>– by <1223> me <1700> and <2532> Silvanus <4610> and <2532> Timothy <5095>– was <1096> not <3756> “Yes <3483>” and <2532> “No <3756>,” but <235> it has always been <1096> “Yes <3483>” in <1722> him <846>.
For <1063> every one <3745> of God’s <2316> promises <1860> are “Yes <3483>” in <1722> him <846>; therefore <1352> also <2532> through <1223> him <846> the “Amen <281>” is spoken, to <4314> the glory <1391> we <2257> give to God <2316>.
But <1161> it is God <2316> who establishes <950> us <2248> together with <4862> you <5213> in <1519> Christ <5547> and <2532> who anointed <5548> us <2248>,
who also <2532> sealed <4972> us <2248> and <2532> gave <1325> us the Spirit <4151> in <1722> our <2257> hearts <2588> as a down payment <728>.
Now I <1473> appeal <1941> to God <2316> as <1909> my witness <3144>, that <3754> to spare <5339> you <5216> I did <2064> not <3765> come again <2064> to <1519> Corinth <2882>.
I do not <3756> mean that <3754> we rule over <2961> your <5216> faith <4102>, but <235> we are <1510> workers <4904> with you for your <5216> joy <5479>, because <1063> by faith <4102> you stand firm <2476>.
