2And <2532> a leper <3015> approached <4334>, and bowed low <4352> before him <846>, saying <3004>, “Lord <2962>, if <1437> you are willing <2309>, you can <1410> make <2511> me <3165> clean <2511>.”
3He <2532> stretched out <1614> his hand <5495> and touched <680> him <846> saying <3004>, “I am willing <2309>. Be clean <2511>!” Immediately <2112> his <846> leprosy <3014> was cleansed <2511>.
4Then <2532> Jesus <2424> said <3004> to him <846>, “See <3708> that you do <2036> not <3367> speak <2036> to anyone, but <235> go <5217>, show <1166> yourself <4572> to a priest <2409>, and <2532> bring <4374> the offering <1435> that <3739> Moses <3475> commanded <4367>, as <1519> a testimony <3142> to them <846>.”
5When <1525> he <846> entered <1525> Capernaum <2584>, a centurion <1543> came <4334> to him <846> asking for help <3870>:
6“Lord <2962>, my <3450> servant <3816> is lying <928> at <1722> home <3614> paralyzed <3885>, in terrible <1171> anguish.”
7Jesus said <3004> to him <846>, “I <1473> will come <2064> and heal <2323> him <846>.”
8But <1161> the centurion <1543> replied <5346>, “Lord <2962>, I am <1510> not <3756> worthy <2425> to have <2443> you come <1525> under <5259> my <3450> roof <4721>. Instead <235>, just <3440> say <2036> the word <3056> and <2532> my <3450> servant <3816> will be healed <2390>.
9For <1063> I <1473> too <2532> am <1510> a man <444> under <5259> authority <1849>, with soldiers <4757> under <5259> me <1683>. I say <3004> to this one <5129>, ‘Go <4198>’ and <2532> he goes <4198>, and <2532> to another <243> ‘Come <2064>’ and <2532> he comes <2064>, and <2532> to my <3450> slave <1401> ‘Do <4160> this <5124>’ and <2532> he does <4160> it.”
10When <1161> Jesus <2424> heard <191> this he was amazed <2296> and <2532> said <2036> to those who followed <190> him, “I tell <3004> you <5213> the truth <281>, I have <2147> not <3762> found <2147> such <5118> faith <4102> in anyone in <1722> Israel <2474>!
11I tell <3004> you <5213>, many <4183> will come <2240> from <575> the east <395> and <2532> west <1424> to share the banquet <347> with <3326> Abraham <11>, Isaac <2464>, and <2532> Jacob <2384> in <1722> the kingdom <932> of heaven <3772>,
12but <1161> the sons <5207> of the kingdom <932> will be thrown out <1544> into <1519> the outer <1857> darkness <4655>, where there <1563> will be <1510> weeping <2805> and <2532> gnashing <1030> of teeth <3599>.”
13Then <2532> Jesus <2424> said <2036> to the centurion <1543>, “Go <5217>; just as <5613> you believed <4100>, it will be done <1096> for you <4671>.” And <2532> the servant <3816> was healed <2390> at <1722> that <1565> hour <5610>.
14Now <2532> when Jesus <2424> entered <2064> <1519> Peter’s <4074> house <3614>, he saw <1492> his <846> mother-in-law <3994> lying down <906>, sick with a fever <4445>.
15He <2532> touched <680> her <846> hand <5495>, and <2532> the fever <4446> left <863> her <846>. Then <2532> she got up <1453> and <2532> began to serve <1247> them <846>.
16When <1096> it was <1096> evening <3798>, many <4183> demon-possessed <1139> people were brought <4374> to him <846>. He <2532> drove out <1544> the spirits <4151> with a word <3056>, and <2532> healed <2323> all <3956> who were <2192> sick <2560>.
17In this way <3704> what was spoken <4483> by <1223> Isaiah <2268> the prophet <4396> was fulfilled <4137>: “He took <2983> our <2257> weaknesses <769> and <2532> carried <941> our diseases <3554>.”
18Now <1161> when Jesus <2424> saw <1492> a large crowd <3793> around <4012> him <846>, he gave orders <2753> to go <565> to <1519> the other side <4008> of the lake.
19Then <2532> an expert in the law <1122> came <4334> to him <846> and said <2036>, “Teacher <1320>, I will follow <190> you <4671> wherever <3699> <1437> you go <565>.”
20Jesus <2424> said <3004> to him <846>, “Foxes <258> have <2192> dens <5454>, and <2532> the birds <4071> in the sky <3772> have nests <2682>, but <1161> the Son <5207> of Man <444> has <2192> no <3756> place <4226> to lay <2827> his head <2776>.”
21Another <2087> of the disciples <3101> said <2036> to him <846>, “Lord <2962>, let <2010> me <3427> first <4412> go <565> and <2532> bury <2290> my <3450> father <3962>.”
22But <1161> Jesus <2424> said <3004> to him <846>, “Follow <190> me <3427>, and <2532> let <863> the dead <3498> bury <2290> their own <1438> dead <3498>.”
23As <1684> he got <1684> into <1519> the boat <4143>, his <846> disciples <3101> followed <190> him <846>.
24And <2532> a great <3173> storm <4578> developed <1096> on <1722> the sea <2281> so <5620> that the waves <2949> began to swamp <2572> the boat <4143>. But <1161> he <846> was asleep <2518>.
25So <2532> they came <4334> and woke <1453> him <846> up <1453> saying <3004>, “Lord <2962>, save <4982> us! We are about to die <622>!”
26But <2532> he said <3004> to them <846>, “Why <5101> are you <1510> cowardly <1169>, you people of little faith <3640>?” Then <5119> he got up <1453> and rebuked <2008> the winds <417> and <2532> the sea <2281>, and <2532> it was <1096> dead <3173> calm <1055>.
27And <1161> the men <444> were amazed <2296> and said <3004>, “What sort of person <4217> is <1510> this <3778>? Even <2532> the winds <417> and <2532> the sea <2281> obey <5219> him <846>!”
28When <2532> he <846> came <2064> to <1519> the other side <4008>, to <1519> the region <5561> of the Gadarenes <1046>, two <1417> demon-possessed men <1139> coming <5221> from <1537> the tombs <3419> met him. They were extremely <3029> violent <5467>, so that <5620> no <3361> one <5100> was able <2480> to pass <3928> by <1223> that <1565> way <3598>.
29They cried out <2896>, “Son <5207> of God <2316>, leave us <2254> alone! Have you come <2064> here <5602> to torment <928> us <2248> before <4253> the time <2540>?”
30A large <4183> herd <34> of pigs <5519> was feeding <1006> some distance <3112> from <575> them <846>.
31Then <1161> the demons <1142> begged <3870> him <846>, “If <1487> you drive <1544> us <2248> out <1544>, send <649> us <2248> into <1519> the herd <34> of pigs <5519>.”
32And <2532> he said <2036>, “Go <5217>!” So <1161> they came out <1831> and went <565> into <1519> the pigs <5519>, and <2532> the herd <34> rushed down <3729> the steep slope <2911> into <1519> the lake <2281> and <2532> drowned <599> in <1722> the water <5204>.
33The <1161> herdsmen <1006> ran off <5343>, went <565> into <1519> the town <4172>, and told <518> everything <3956> that had happened to the demon-possessed men <1139>.
34Then <2532> the entire <3956> town <4172> came out <1831> to <1519> meet <5222> Jesus <2424>. And <2532> when <1492> they saw <1492> him <846>, they begged <3870> him to leave <3327> their <846> region <3725>.
