2So <3767> she went <2064> running <5143> to <4314> Simon <4613> Peter <4074> and <2532> the other <243> disciple <3101> whom <3739> Jesus <2424> loved <5368> and <2532> told <3004> them <846>, “They have taken <142> the Lord <2962> from <1537> the tomb <3419>, and <2532> we <1492> don’t <3756> know <1492> where <4226> they have put <5087> him <846>!”
3Then <3767> Peter <4074> and <2532> the other <243> disciple <3101> set out <1831> to go <2064> to <1519> the tomb <3419>.
4The two <1417> were running <5143> together <3674>, but <2532> the other <243> disciple <3101> ran <4390> faster than <5032> Peter <4074> and <2532> reached <2064> the tomb <3419> first <4413>.
5He <2532> bent down <3879> and saw <991> the strips of linen cloth <3608> lying <2749> there, but <3305> he did <1525> not <3756> go in <1525>.
6Then <3767> Simon <4613> Peter <4074>, who had been following <190> him <846>, arrived <2064> and <2532> went <1525> right into <1519> the tomb <3419>. He <2532> saw <2334> the strips of linen cloth <3608> lying <2749> there,
7and <2532> the face cloth <4676>, which <3739> had been <1510> around <1909> Jesus <846>’ head <2776>, not <3756> lying <2749> with <3326> the strips of linen cloth <3608> but <235> rolled up <1794> in a <1520> place <5117> by itself <5565>.
8Then <5119> the other <243> disciple <3101>, who had reached <1525> the tomb <3419> first <4413>, came <2064> in <1519>, and <2532> he saw <1492> and <2532> believed <4100>.
9(For <1063> they did <1492> not yet <3764> understand <1492> the scripture <1124> that <3754> Jesus <846> must <1163> rise <450> from <1537> the dead <3498>.)
10So <3767> the disciples <3101> went <565> back <3825> to <4314> their homes <846>.
11But <1161> Mary <3137> stood <2476> outside <1854> the tomb <3419> weeping <2799>. As <5613> she wept <2799>, she bent down and looked <3879> into <1519> the tomb <3419>.
12And <2532> she saw <2334> two <1417> angels <32> in <1722> white <3022> sitting <2516> where <3699> Jesus <2424>’ body <4983> had been lying <2749>, one <1520> at <4314> the head <2776> and <2532> one <1520> at <4314> the feet <4228>.
13They said <3004> to her <846>, “Woman <1135>, why <5101> are you weeping <2799>?” Mary replied <3004>, “They have taken <142> my <3450> Lord <2962> away <142>, and <2532> I do <1492> not <3756> know <1492> where <4226> they have put <5087> him <846>!”
14When <2036> she had said <2036> this <5023>, she turned around <4762> and <2532> saw <2334> Jesus <2424> standing <2476> there, but <2532> she did <1492> not <3756> know <1492> that <3754> it was <1510> Jesus <2424>.
15Jesus <2424> said <3004> to her <846>, “Woman <1135>, why <5101> are you weeping <2799>? Who <5101> are you looking for <2212>?” Because she thought <1380> he was <1510> the gardener <2780>, she said <3004> to him <846>, “Sir <2962>, if <1487> you <4771> have carried <941> him <846> away <941>, tell <2036> me <3427> where <4226> you have put <5087> him <846>, and I <2504> will take <142> him <846>.”
16Jesus <2424> said <3004> to her <846>, “Mary <3137>.” She <1565> turned <4762> and said <3004> to him <846> in Aramaic <1447>, “Rabboni <4462>” (which means <3004> Teacher <1320>).
17Jesus <2424> replied <3004>, “Do <680> not <3361> touch <680> me <3450>, for <1063> I have <305> not yet <3768> ascended <305> to <4314> my Father <3962>. Go <4198> to <4314> my <3450> brothers <80> and <2532> tell <2036> them <846>, ‘I am ascending <305> to <4314> my <3450> Father <3962> and <2532> your <5216> Father <3962>, to my <3450> God <2316> and <2532> your <5216> God <2316>.’”
18Mary <3137> Magdalene <3094> came <2064> and informed <32> the disciples <3101>, “I have seen <3708> the Lord <2962>!” And <2532> she told them what Jesus had said <2036> to her <846>.
19On the evening <3798> of that <1565> day <2250>, the first <1520> day of the week <4521>, the disciples <3101> had gathered together and locked <2808> the doors <2374> of the place because <1223> they were afraid <5401> of the <3588> Jewish leaders <2453>. Jesus <2424> came <2064> and <2532> stood <2476> among <3319> them and <2532> said <3004> to them <846>, “Peace <1515> be with you <5213>.”
20When <2532> he had said <2036> this <5124>, he showed <1166> them <846> his hands <5495> and <2532> his side <4125>. Then <3767> the disciples <3101> rejoiced <5463> when <1492> they saw <1492> the Lord <2962>.
21So <3767> Jesus <2424> said <2036> to them <846> again <3825>, “Peace <1515> be with you <5213>. Just as <2531> the Father <3962> has sent <649> me <3165>, I also <2504> send <3992> you <5209>.”
22And <2532> after <2036> he said <2036> this <5124>, he breathed <1720> on them <846> and <2532> said <3004>, “Receive <2983> the Holy <40> Spirit <4151>.
23If <302> you forgive <863> anyone’s <5100> sins <266>, they are forgiven <863>; if you retain <2902> anyone’s <5100> sins, they are retained <2902>.”
24Now Thomas <2381> (called <3004> Didymus <1324>), one <1520> of <1537> the twelve <1427>, was <1510> not <3756> with <3326> them <846> when <3753> Jesus <2424> came <2064>.
25The other <243> disciples <3101> told <3004> him <846>, “We have seen <3708> the Lord <2962>!” But <1161> he replied <2036>, “Unless <1437> <3361> I see <1492> the wounds <5179> from the nails <2247> in <1722> his <846> hands <5495>, and <2532> put <906> my <3450> finger <1147> into <1519> the wounds <5179> from the nails <2247>, and <2532> put <906> my <3450> hand <5495> into <1519> his <846> side <4125>, I will <4100> never <3756> <3361> believe <4100> it!”
26Eight <3638> days <2250> later <3326> the disciples <3101> were <1510> again <3825> together in <2080> the house, and <2532> Thomas <2381> was with <3326> them <846>. Although the doors <2374> were locked <2808>, Jesus <2424> came <2064> and <2532> stood <2476> among <1519> <3319> them and <2532> said <2036>, “Peace <1515> be with you <5213>!”
27Then <1534> he said <3004> to Thomas <2381>, “Put <5342> your <4675> finger <1147> here <5602>, and <2532> examine <1492> my <3450> hands <5495>. Extend <5342> your <4675> hand <5495> and <2532> put <906> it into <1519> my <3450> side <4125>. Do <1096> not <3361> continue <1096> in your unbelief <571>, but <235> believe <4103>.”
28Thomas <2381> replied <611> <2036> to him <846>, “My <3450> Lord <2962> and <2532> my <3450> God <2316>!”
29Jesus said <3004> to him <846>, “Have you believed <4100> because <3754> you have seen <3708> me <3165>? Blessed <3107> are the people who have <1492> not <3361> seen <1492> and <2532> yet have believed <4100>.”
30Now Jesus <2424> performed <4160> many <4183> other <243> miraculous signs <4592> in the presence of <1799> the disciples <3101>, which <3739> are <1510> not <3756> recorded <1125> in <1722> this <5129> book <975>.
31But <1161> these <5023> are recorded <1125> so that <2443> you may believe <4100> that <3754> Jesus <2424> is <1510> the Christ <5547>, the Son <5207> of God <2316>, and <2532> that <2443> by believing <4100> you may have <2192> life <2222> in <1722> his <846> name <3686>.
